Yakima Double Down Hitch Adapter

Question:

I have a Yakima Double Down bike rack from around 2013 bI wanted to confirm the model no. Can you tell me where the model no. is located on the rack or identify from photos. My suv has the 2” tow fitting and I need the adapter. Thanks

The adapter for the DoubleDown to work on 2" hitch receivers is # Y8890342 . After checking with my contact at Yakima, the rack you have looks more like a Yakima HighLite 3 (3 bike rack) which was produced from 2011-2016, so the year you purchased lines up. Since this appears from your pictures to only hold 3 bikes, it's safe to say that you have a HighLite, since the DoubleDown is a 4 bike rack.

Regardless of which model it is, since both racks are compatible with both 1-1/4" and 2" receivers and both were manufactured during the same time periods, I was able to confirm with Yakima that both receivers will use the adapter # Y8890342 mentioned above to allow you to use your rack on your new 2" hitch receiver. For future reference, the Yakima HighLite 3 product number is # 8002436 (2 bike) # 8002437 (3 bike). I am also attaching a picture I grabbed from the Yakima products page I was referenced to so that you can see the measurements and specs on the carrier to reference.
