Why is Trailer Hitch Available for 2018 Chevy Trax if Towing is Not Recommended
Updated 03/11/2019 | Published 03/10/2019
Question:
I was curious what the tow rating is for a 2018 Trax FWD, I am having trouble locating the actual capacity for it. The dealer says it shouldnt tow, but if there is a hitch made for it, it seems like it would be capable. We are looking to tow a collapsible popup, roughly 1100 lbs. Thanks.

We have to recommend you stick with the recommendations from the dealer for your 2018 Chevy Trax to be as safe as possible. And because they are the ones who designed the vehicle and would have to honor the vehicle warranty.
We've found that our manufacturers will make hitches for vehicles as long as there's a demand for them which is why Draw Tite has the part # DT32GR as a confirmed fit for your vehicle. Some people may use the hitch for carrying a bike rack or they may ignore the towing restriction and go ahead and tow anyway at their own risk.
