Question:

I have a 2015 RX 350. It does not have the tow package. I wanted to install the Curt C13143. I made an appointment at U-Haul to have it installed and they called me and said they dont install it because of problems w/ the fit. It comes into contact w/ the exhaust and makes a noise. I then called a Lexus Dealer and they said they they would install one. I asked what they would install, I was put on hold. When they came back on they changed their story and said they dont install a hitch on the RX 350 w/out the tow package because of problems. I am looking for a recommendation for a hitch package and an installer.

Curt trailer hitch # C13143 most certainly fits the 2015 Lexus RX350 without the factory tow package. Regarding the hitch coming into contact with the exhaust that can actually happen on pretty much any vehicle. This is because of minute differences in how the exhaust hangs from one vehicle to the next. It can be easily corrected though I am not surprised that an outfit such as Uhaul doesn't know that. We actually have a help article on exactly this issue which I have linked for you.

Dealerships operate in their own universe. Some are more accommodating to aftermarket parts than others. So what you could do is either contact a different Lexus dealership or contact some local auto repair shops to get some quotes on installation. Any reputable shop could perform this installation and they would also have the proper tools and equipment to fix an exhaust rattle (if it even occurs).

If you plan on doing some towing I recommend etrailer ball mount kit # 989900. It comes with 2 ball mounts; one with a 3/4 inch rise or 2 inch drop and one with a 2-3/4 inch rise or 4 inch drop. It also includes a 1-7/8 inch ball, 2 inch ball, hitch pin with clip, and a storage bag.

If the ball mount kit does not have the right rise or drop to tow the trailer level, use the link I have included that explains how to measure to choose a ball mount to tow the trailer level.

And for trailer wiring you can use Tekonsha harness # 118255 to add a 4-Way flat connector to the rear of the vehicle.
