What you mentioned is not fixable but if you bought this less than a year ago it would be covered under warranty most likely. Who did you buy it from and how long ago?

If you need to purchase a new electric tongue jack I would highly recommend the Stromberg Carlson # SC63VR jack rated for 4500 pounds of lift and equipped with a industy unique clutch that prevents the jack foot from being over extended or extracted which would cause damage/failure. It also has a drop foot that can add 5" of lift if needed. This is great for campsites where your driveway slopes down to the street.

My favorite powered jack to recommend is the Husky Jack part # HT87247 as it has bearings in the screw which allow it to operate quicker and smoother. It also shuts off automatically before topping or bottoming out. Other jacks will allow you to go too far with the jack but in doing so you damage the threads of the screw. It has a lifting capacity of 4,500 lbs which would be more than you'd need but will ensure that the jack will operate quickly and last a long time.
