Question:
I am reading peoples comments and want to make sure I am getting the right hitch for my car. Will this hitch fit my 2009 Mazda 3 Hatchback Grand Touring Edition. If yes, will it pull a metal 8 x 5 trailer like in the picture provided? If yes, what ball hitch should I use? And what do I need to make sure the lights work on the trailer? C11386 Obviously Ive never used a trailer or hitch. Sorry for my lack of knowledge. Thanks for your time and patience. :

We can help you get your 2009 Mazda 3 Grand Touring Edition ready for your utility trailer.
Curt Class I hitch # C11386 is a good choice along with ball mount # C45016. You will also need a hitch ball, either 2-inch ball # A-82 or 1-7/8-inch ball # A-80. Just check the coupler on the trailer; it will be stamped or have a sticker to indicate the ball size required. This hitch has a 2000-lb trailer weight rating, meaning that the loaded trailer and its contents must remain within that limit. It is a good idea to check your Mazda owner's manual for confirmation of what your specific version can tow. Some may not be rated for trailer towing.
For a wiring harness to power the trailer lights you can use part # 118420 if your Mazda 3 has standard incandescent bulb tail lights; if the car has LED lights instead use part # 46255. You can distinguish between the types of lights easily; incandescent bulbs (like the type we all grew up with) have a slight delay in illuminating once power hits them whereas LED lights come on pretty much instantly. If you have ever changed a bulb in the tail lights then they are incandescent.
