With a 3,500-lb gross trailer weight rating and 350-lb tongue weight capacity, this hitch is built for everyday hauling and weekend adventures. The 2" x 2" receiver fits all kinds of gear—bike racks, cargo carriers, or small trailers—without needing adapters. It’s a solid match for light to moderate towing, giving you the strength and flexibility you need for practical use without overcomplicating things.
You don’t have to sacrifice looks for functionality. The concealed main body keeps the cross tube hidden behind the bumper, so only the receiver shows. It gives your vehicle that factory-style, OEM look with no bulky bars or hardware hanging below the bumper. The gloss black powder coat over a rust-resistant base layer keeps it looking sharp while standing up to road grime and weather.
The fully welded, square-tube steel construction is sturdy and dependable. Every weld is robotically done for consistent strength and fit. The hitch is co-cured in a liquid Bonderite coating inside and out, then topped with a high-gloss powder coat for superior rust protection. It’s designed to handle tough conditions while staying strong season after season.
This custom-fit hitch bolts directly to the frame—no welding required. All mounting hardware and instructions are included, so you can get it installed with basic tools in a driveway or garage. The precision fit lines up with existing attachment points for smooth alignment and a secure finish that’s ready to use once it’s bolted up.

This etrailer hitch is a very well built and strong trailer hitch which is used to carry two heavy electric mountain bikes and the bike rack. This etrailer hitch replaced an existing Subaru trailer hitch that was inadequate to handle the weight our bikes. Customer service from etrailer was excellent and I plan to purchase another etrailer hitch for our other car.
Installation was harder and took longer than I expected, but it's worth it. Super solid.
My hitch fit perfectly! Too bad it didn't arrive in a box. It had a few dents on the edges. Good thing I had some gloss black Rust-Oleum on hand to touch up the paint. Because I live in Minnesota and any bare metal would have started to rust.
Looks like a factory installed hitch. Very happy.
The quality of the hitch is excellent, and the instructional video was incredibly helpful for the installation.
Item came with damage and rust. It was just placed in a plastic bag no card board.

Shipping can be very rough on the heavy hitches. I will see about getting some paint sent your way. Be on the look out for an email!
The box was not in good condition but luckily, you guys taped the bag of instructions and the nuts and bolts to the product. Thanks
Great hitch. I love that most of it can be hidden. Looks awesome on mu 2023 subaru forester sport!
Very easy install as long as you have the right tools. Some socket extensions, a breaker bar (for removing the rear bumper reinforcement beam), and an impact made life very easy.
Would've been great to get a true-to-size template for cutting the bumper that folded up with the instructions.
I love the look of this receiver, however I would've preferred it to be one or two inches taller into the bumper for a more conspicuous, OEM look, but for the price point, pretty darn happy with it.
Well designed and easy to install.
Fits very well. I recommend professional installation. I took the 2020 Subaru Forester to the local body shop. It took about three hours to install and reset sensors, etc.
Perfect fit and easy to install following the video on the product page. A little difficult getting the torque wrench in on top of the exhaust system. Don't pull on the wires when disconnecting the wires, release the lock and pry with a small screw driver.
Read the reviews and here’s my experience.
Packaging - considering the only thing you see is the receiver it doesn’t matter. Hit it with a rattle can if you’re concerned. The frame that goes into the rear sticks out of the box and is wrapped. Eco-friendly as a ton of styrofoam would be needed to protect something you don’t see.
Instructions-be careful with the cutout on the bumper, one person said the opening was too big. That will happen if you follow the instructions. Cut the 3in section about 1.5
Vs 2.5 or to the bend in the bumper.
Time-plan for 3 hours
Tools-just use hand tools. You risk stripping a bolt, even on removal.
I am very happy w this hitch. It was a great value and the video was very helpful and accurate. The cutout of the body trim turned out to be WAY large (see photo).

Still good. i usually just use it for a bike rack. A month ago I used it to pull a friends small car out of the sand without a problem.

Subaru had a 1 1/4 hitch but too small for bike rack so I ordered the 2 inch.
The box was destroyed during shipping and the hitch was sticking out of the box. It did scratch off some of the paint.
Installation wasn’t that difficult. Took less than two hours. I would recommend having a second set of hands when removing the bumper cover so it doesn’t get scratched. Followed the installation video and it was straight forward. I would’ve cut a little less of the bumper cover if I did it again and had it a little s’more snug on the look.
I have yet to install it and try it out so this review is currently for the look and delivery. I will update once I install and test the hitch.
Delivery was super fast and the hitch looks overall good. However, the delivery caused many chips and scratches all over the hitch which I’m not happy about. That’s why I gave it a 4 star.

The product itself and function has so far been amazing and no complains about it. It look really nice and used it all summer.
Perfect fit and almost flawless installation. MUCH thanks to Ryan and the eTrailer team for the installation video!
One point - in the installation video at about 14:53, Ryan threads the bolt and spacer block on to the fish wire and feeds it through a passthrough into the hitch / vehicle frame. Unfortunately, neither of the spacer blocks fit into the passthrough. The spacer block was just a hair too big. It took us only a few minutes to figure out the workaround. We loosened the attachment bolts and fed the bolt & block assembly straight into the vehicle frame behind the hitch and it worked like a champ!
The cutting instructions for the rear bumper were spot-on and the installed hitch looks perfect!
Great instructions, all fit perfectly. Thank you.
Hidden behind bumper. Receiver is the only thing you see. Anyone with any mecanical skills can install. Easy
just what I was looking for. functional and looks good

its.been great and I love its low profile
The hitch looks good on our Subaru Forster. I have used it once so far to transport 2 bikes, easy peasy.
I’ve had this trailer hitch for a year now and I’m a fan. The installation process was a bit time consuming but pretty straightforward to install on my 2022 Subaru Forester. Once installed I’ve had zero issues. I love that the rest of the hitch bar is recessed into the vehicle body unlike most of the cheaper hitches on the market. I’ve only used the hitch to hold my Thule T2 Pro bike hitch rack with the 2 bike extension. Works perfectly and didn’t notice the gas mileage being lower.
The hands-free sensor does not fit in its appropriate space with this trailer hitch on a 2025 Subaru Forester touring. Despite the FAQs on e-trailers site saying otherwise. Pretty disappointed with this, in particularly with a trailers response.

This is the first I am hearing of one not working. Can you please respond directly to the email you receive with pictures? I would like to reach out directly to Curt on this one.
Installation was super easy. If you’re at all mechanically inclined, you should have no problems taking everything apart and installing the hitch. The most difficult part was getting the bumper cover retaining clips back in place.
The only thing I’ll say, as others have here, is that when you’re cutting out the squares for the hitch, do not cut out the full 2.5” for the receiver itself. I cut mine at 1.25” and it’s a perfect fit.
When I removed the exhaust hangers, I only removed the 2 closest to the rear of the vehicle and was able to get to the heat shield screws and get that out. It was a bit of a pain getting the carriage bolt torqued correctly, but it worked out.
Overall, very easy process with easy to follow instructions and how-to videos. Time will tell with the hitch receiver durability.

Great to know that you don't have to take the full 2.5" off for the cutout, it looks great!

Glad to hear it fit for you, Brian! Sorry about how it got to you though. I will let our warehouse know so they can address that. Definitely want these getting to everyone in good order. What are you going to be using the hitch for now that's it's installed?
