Does Curt Trailer Hitch for 2016 Toyota Corolla Require Removing Fuel Tank Cover

Looks like there is a plastic guard over the fuel tank that gets in the way on the 2016.... hitch for 2004 corolla will fit 2016 corolla?

Trailer hitches like the part # C11265 are a fit for both a 2004 Toyota Corolla as well as a 2016 Corolla.
I atttached an install video for this hitch on a 2017 model and in it you can see that our installer removes the cover you mentioned.
