Question:

I am interested in installing a hitch for a 2017 Honda Civic EX-L Sedan. It seems that all Curt hitches require a support strap for non-trailer loads like bike racks. Is this the case for this hitch?

Curt Class I, II, and some IIIs require the use of the stabilization strap, # 18050, when using the hitch for any non-trailer load. The Curt trailer hitch # C92UR for your 2016 Honda Civic sedan will require the stabilizer strap when carrying non-supported loads like bike racks or cargo carriers.

When using the hitch for an accessory such as a bike rack or cargo carrier then you have to make sure the accessory is rated for use with a Class I trailer hitch. Also, with a bike rack, you are limited to 2 bikes maximum on a Class I hitch. I have linked the Class I compatible 2-bike racks and cargo carriers for you.
