The hitch fits the vehicle fine but I ended up needing a couple backer blocks and carriage bolts due to rusted threads and my etrailer rep told me etrailer doesn't sell stuff like that. I had a memory of hardware like that with a previous hitch and now figure I must have received it from Curt? Anyways... I don't see how dangerous it could be with a class 1 hitch, but whatever. 3 stars, the hitch is as advertised and fits the vehicle. I got my hardware elsewhere

I had picked this brand in particular because one of my friends uses this brand on his car. This is a very well built, sturdy, and clean finished hitch. It came in well packaged and with all the necessary hardware secured and not rattling around. The installation was easy as it was shown on their instructional videos (I even skipped a step i found unnecessary and was still able to install the hitch by myself). The 1.25 hitch was perfect for installing my new bike rack. I'd definitely get this brand hitch again and will refer Curt and the whole etrailer process for purchasing a hitch. A what looked to me a complicated process was made easy with etrailers

After a year, its still holding strong. I even got rear-ended with my bike rack attached. The rack was damaged, but the hitch held strong and the bolts were still in place.

@William That's great to hear, William! What have you been using the hitch for?

by:
2007 Toyota Corolla

Super easy installation. I borrowed a 12-1.25 tap from work so I could clean up the threads before trying to install the hitch. It would have been a little easier with another person holding up one side of the hitch while getting the bolts started,, but after a few minutes I was able to get it installed. Now I don't have to wait to use my wifes car when I need to use the little utility trailer.
I ordered the wiring harness separately and that was also very easy to install. The most difficult part was getting the tabs on the wire connectors depressed so I could get the old cennections apart.

I ordered this hitch for my 2014 Corolla for use with my Swagman XC bike rack. I am pleased with the quality of this hitch, it is much heavier duty than I expected. It bolted up easily with the supplied hardware and looks great. Hardly noticeable. The bike rack fits perfectly. Now I am ready to hit the trails.

I use the hitch for my bike rake. The hitch was super easy to install and looks good on the car. I have recommended your site to several others.

Receiver hitch arrived on the day it was supposed to. E trailer products always have.
4 bolts to install fit exactly correct. The vehicle is a Toyota Corolla. The trailer is extremely light. Trailer is used to haul one Kawasaki dual sport bike. It can easily haul 2. Utility use also.

by:

overall good, shipping was quick. However, the bolts that came with it were not correct and being in rural kentucky took a couple trips into town for hardware which cost me more to have installed.

the trailer hitch and wiring are both working well for us after about a years use . after having this thing for awhile i find it is just what i needed . i like the fact that when it is not being used the wiring goes in the trunk out of the weather .

by:

A year ago I ordered and installed one of your trailer hitches so I could mount a bike rack on my car. The hitch is well made and has worked great. Someone hit my car in a parking lot with the rack mounted and the assembly is so rugged there was zero damage to my car.

Hitch is well built and easy to install. Shipping was super fast. However, before you buy, make sure the threads the bolts go into are not rusted out. I had to tap the threads which made a super easy job a lot harder. The his had nothing to do with the hitch though, just wanting to give those that live in the rust belt a heads up.

It’s been great, it took less than an hour mount to my Toyota. I use it two to three times per week. Sometimes I pull a trailer or I have my bike rack on the receiver hitch. I would guess that by mounting it myself I saved several hundred dollars. You can’t go wrong by buying your hitches from this company.

by:

This hitch fits like a glove and looks and feels like a quality hitch. Mounted and ready to go in less than 10 minutes. The bolt holes in the frame of most vehicles will have a small amount of paint on the threads. If you start the bolts and then remove before mounting hitch it will save a lot aggravation as starting the bolts can sometimes take effort when paint and road grime are present. I learned this mounting another hitch. A small amount of WD-40 doesn’t hurt either. Shipping was lightening fast, arriving the next day- yes less than 24 hours ( I do live in the same state but nonetheless it takes a staff on the move to get items out the door as quick as etrailer. ) Another great experience with this company.

I see that youre using an adapter so your 2 inch bike rack will work in your Class I hitch with a 1-1/4 inch receiver. Please be aware that an adapter will lower the tongue weight capacity of the hitch maximum amount of downward force that can safely be applied by half, from 200 to 100 lbs. This means that the weight of the bikes plus the rack that carries them should not exceed 100 lbs. It looks like youre using a 3-bike rack. The hitch and bike rack manufacturers agree that no more than 2 bikes should be carried on a rack used in a Class I hitch, due to its lower tongue weight capacity. That third bike places a lot of additional leverage further away from the vehicle, which can result in the rack, hitch or the attachment point between the hitch and vehicle to be damaged.

by:
Toyota Corolla

This hitch works beautifully. I have most certainly loaded it to capacity and put it through it's paces now over the last year. It will definitely handle the advertised load. The only reason I am not giving it 5 stars, is that it changes the way my car looks pretty substantially. I really love the way my corolla looked before the hitch and it is just a bit bulkier than I would like with the hitch on it. It would be nice if it had a more discrete profile.

by:
2005 Toyota Corolla

The product arrived in three days from order. Being in a rural area you can't beat that.

Installation was simple and straight forward. There was nothing to remove on my 2005 Corolla and only minor was cleaning of the threaded holes was required. There is limited clearance under this car for installation so the biggest challenge was getting the first bolt started near the exhaust pipe as the location of the pipe makes it almost impossible get you hand in there to start the bolts. A 6" or so extension is a must. I used a 1/2" ratchet with a 1/2"-3/8" adapter, 6" extender, and long 19mm socket. The directions recommend 9" extension, but this was plenty. The other requirement is a torque wrench. 86 ft/lbs isn't a challenge for lug nuts, but with the extension and awkward position it requires some strength. I was surprised at how far I was from the torque spec with the 1/2" ratchet.

On the ground installation estimate of 30 minutes is accurate without rushing. On a lift this would be a cinch.

This is a nice, well built, sturdy product, and as a final perk it is Made in America.

by:
2010 Toyota Corolla

Easy order, exact fit, took less than 15 mins to install. Recommend borrowing a torque wrench if you don't have one, even a cheap one - 86ft lbs tightening torque is about the same as the lugnuts on a car but it's more than you think if you're just guessing by feel, don't want it falling off with a load attached...

This is an excellent product quality made, but it is not a 20-minute job for a New York car. The bolt holes in the vehicle were corroded so badly on a six-year-old car that they had to be re-drilled and re-fitted and the bolts for the trailer hitch had to be re-tapped it’s very sturdy, holds up well even after the modifications we had to do. I highly suggest if you want a trailer hitch on your car in Northern New York, don't wait until it’s six years old.

PERFECT INSTALL
Run a 12mm x 1.25 pitch
tap thru the 4 threaded weld nuts in the frame first to clean up the rust in the threads first

by:

Easy to install after I used a tap to clean the treads on my vehicle. the tap I bought from another online retailer "Drill America m12 x 1.25 High Speed Steel Metric 4 Flute Bottoming Hand Tap, DWT Series". I use this hitch to mount a two bike rack on my vehicle.

by:
2016 Toyota Corolla

The hitch receiver was exactly what I needed for my Corolla. The installation was exactly as the video described. The threads on my car's frame were a little rusty, being 6 years old now, so I had to run a m12 x 1.25 tap through the threads on the vehicle to clean them out. The bolts went right in, and they even specify torque in the kit instructions. This will be great for towing my small trailer.

by:

Delivery was prompt and as promised, installation of the actual hitch was as is it as installing 4 bolts, there was really nothing to it the only mistake I made was to try and install it on my own, I recommend not to try it, it's a lot easier with someone helping you keeping it level while you put that 1st bolt after that help is really not needed.

Overall a great experience buying from etrailer, great product, excellent communication from the time you place the order to the time you get your product.

The hitch was purchased to install a bike rack and carry a couple bikes on it, at this time I have not tried to install a rack or carry any bikes once I actually use it I might be back for and update, overall I like it so far.

Some pictures are attached.

by:

I love the trailer hitch we were able to put on my car so I could attach a bike rack. It took my husband extra time because my car is ten years old and MN winters had done some damage to the holes needed to attach but he did it and we are thrilled with the product. Thanks for such a great product!

Thanks for the good Trailer hitch for my Toyota Corolla. It was exactly as advertised. It arrived on time. It fit and the installation hardware was complete. Installation directions were clear. I installed it the same day I received it and I'm now using it.

by:

I check the mounting holes and they were blocked up, so I sprayed wd40 in there and scrubbed the holes with a small wire brush. Made the holes were and easy to screw the bolts in. Mounted the receiver hitch by myself and torqued it down. Really like it, may use it for other things besides the bike.

  • Can a 1-1/4 - 2 Adapter be Used to Safely Haul a Cargo Carrier with a 2015 Toyota Corolla
The concept of a hitch adapter like the Brophy # HTAD is a good idea in theory but the problem with using one of those with a 1-1/4" hitch, like part # C11265 or # 24913 for your 2015 Toyota Corolla, is that it will reduce the weight capacity of your trailer hitch by 50%. Since those trailer hitches have a tongue weight rating of 200 lbs this means that the tongue weight will be reduced to 100 lbs.
