Stabilizing strap provides extra support when carrying your bike rack or cargo carrier. Cam buckle design allows for secure connection and easy release between your vehicle and hitch accessory. Vinyl-coated hook won't scratch your vehicle.

Features:

  • Strap provides extra support for your hitch receiver when you use a hitch-mounted bike rack or cargo carrier
    • Limits torque placed on hitch receiver by heavy accessory
    • Evenly distributes weight to stabilize hitch accessory and prevent bouncing
  • Cam buckle design allows for quick connection and release
    • Attach one end to the bike rack and the other end to the vehicle
    • Pull strap through the cam buckle and towards front of the vehicle to increase tension for a secure fit
  • Vinyl-coated hook won't scratch your vehicle

Specs:

  • Dimensions: 61" long x 1" wide
  • Quantity: 1 strap
  • 1-Year limited warranty

Note: Remove the hook before opening or closing the hatch or trunk to avoid damage to your vehicle.

This strap is recommended for use with bike racks and other hitch-mounted accessories to avoid putting too much strain on your trailer hitch. Some Class I and Class II 1-1/4" hitches may require that you use a stabilizing strap to ensure that the hitch does not experience excessive torque while transporting your gear.

The quality of the hitch is excellent. The shipping was prompt and close to on time (snow and ice storm delayed delivery). Only drawback was the location of the pin holes. It seems to be closer to the receiver than I would like. This leaves a lot of wobble in the bike rack. However, this is remedied with the use of the Curt Cam buckle strap I also purchased that same the time.

by:

This strap is easy to use and I appreciate the peace of mind I have while driving knowing there is extra support of my hitch mounted bike rack. The Velcro fastener makes it easy to bundle the strap’s “tail” so it doesn’t drag while driving.

Strap accessory is still working great, I store it in my trunk. I don’t know whether the strap would leave a rub mark on my trunk lid, so just to be safe I cut an 8”-12” piece of pool noodle that has a hole through its center and I position the foam noodle over the corner of the trunk lid before tightening down this strap. It has worked just fine and there is not rub mark.

by:

The product does exactly as advertised. And I had a quick question about installation and was given a quick and satisfactory answer from customer service when I called

by:

The Curt Cam buckle stabilizing. Strap works great. I was a bit skeptical at first but it really helps a lot of the wobble that occur without it. Definitely recommend.

by:

Very handy straps th help support my e-bike on my hitch rack.

by:

Great stabilizing straps! Have used them for 8 years, and recently lost the pair I used to secure and steady bikes. These are a must-have on long drives if your hitch mounted rack has any play in it. They are excellent if you have a hatchback or trunk lid you can hook to. Highly recommend!

by:

I've used etrailer.com before, and the service is excellent. The step-by-step video showing the receiver installation on my model year car was extremely helpful.

by:

great people

by:

Purchased this strap as a backup support for the bike rack that I will be using with my new etrailer hitch.

by:

We used our new hitch thanks to etrailer.com !

The bike rake fit perfectly .. we used the support strap too!

Off we go!

by:

Box to hitch 1 minute.
2 ebikes and
ready to roll 10 minutes.
A whole new world has opened up. This is absolutely the easiest, most versatile rack ever. At 65, my days of putting a light bike on a roof rack are over. This will handle almost anything.
The service and attention to detail was amazing. The eTrailer team seems like friends at the local bike shop. BUY IT HERE!
Gotta go, mountains to ride.

by:

It does what you would expect. I've used it a few times so far and have no complaints.

by:

Install was very easy, instructions were clear.

Be sure to use WD-40 to loosen up the muffler attachments. That one step alone made this job easier than I expected.

This hitch is used to attach a goal post, so I can carry my kayaks on top.

Great customer service, the best.

by:

We were very impressed with the quality of the Curt Trailer hitch we purchased, its price and how quickly it arrived.
We had the hitch installed by a very good local mechanic for a fraction of the cost quoted by our Honda dealer.
The hitch support strap that was recommended works perfectly with this hitch.
We highly recommend this hitch to anyone.

by:

Outstanding product. The stitching and material are heavy duty. Looks great on my Honda Accord and Thule bike rack. Thanks!

Good product but the buckle eventually fails on these. I've had several and it happened to every single one. Room for improvement here.

I use use a Curt Hitch "Flat Carrier"
https://www.etrailer.com/Hitch-Cargo-Carrier/Curt/C18110.html
for
loads on my 2005 Prius.
Bought the recommended support strap and liked the way it took the up-down bounce stress off the hitch, but the carrier still wobbled left to right, rotating slightly within the hitch receiver. Bought a second strap and the two stabilized the load very nicely. I needed a light cord between the two straps at the top of the hatch door to encourage them not to slide off the corners of the door.

I am quite pleased with our flat carrier. We keep the loads low enough & centered enough to not block the brake lights and the license plate. Weve used it to carry bikes as well.

by:

Seems like a well designed strap. I bought it just because I distrust my 1 1/2" hitch and bike rack even though they are both rated for more than my bikes.

by:

Works great for stabilizing the RV bike rack. It doesn’t have a hook for attaching to the hitch but you can loop it around and make it work.

by:

I bought this to use with a new Class III Curt eTrailer for my hybrid bike and another bike periodically. Installation was quick and easy with two people and the right tools. I appreciated the video tutorial. I transported 2 hybrid bikes and a beach cruiser on a Saris bike rack for a trip from TN to SC (9 hours) without any issues. The support strap offered peace of mind in keeping the bike rack stable and secure.

  • What is the Difference Between a Class II and a Class III Hitch?
The difference between the Class II and Class III hitches has to do with their Gross Trailer Weight (GTW), their Tongue Weight (TW), and their Hitch Receiver Size. Class II trailer hitch receivers have a 1-1/4 inch receiver and can be rated up to 3,500 lbs in GTW and up to 525 lbs in TW. Class III, on the other hand, have a 2 inch receiver and have up to 8,000 lbs GTW and 800 lbs TW. I will attach a help article that goes in to more detail for you. A good example of a Class II hitch that...

  • Recommended Hitch Receiver For Jayco Travel Trailer And 4-Bike Rack Application
For your 2017 Jayco Jay Flight SLX 267BHSW travel trailer, I recommend the Ultra-Fab 2" Trailer Hitch Receiver for Trailer Frames # UF35-946403. This is a very nice weld on option adjustable from 47-1/8 to 77 inches. For a bolt on option, I recommend the Curt Adjustable Width Trailer Hitch Receiver for RVs, 22" to 72" Wide # 13703. The Curt model recommends the use of stabilization strap # 18050. The weld on options are nice because they don't require any drilling into your frame, but...

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch to use Thule Bike Rack on 2017 Toyota Camry
The hitches available for your 2017 Toyota Camry, the Curt # C12107 and Draw-Tite # 36540 are extremely similar and it would be difficult to say that one would be "better" than the other for your Thule Roadway # TH912XTR. The most noticeable difference is that the Curt hitch will require you to use stabilizing straps # 18050 when using your bike rack in order to maintain the warranty. The Draw-Tite # 36540 does not have the same requirement so I recommend going with that option over the...

I'm not exactly sure what you mean by "direct fit" because all three of the Class III trailer hitch receivers we carry for your 2014 Subaru Outback are custom made and designed for your vehicle. The hitch that has the most factory-like look is the Ecohitch, part # 306-X7162. Once installed all you see is the open receiver tube under the rear bumper of your Subaru. Take a look at the picture I attached. The downside to this hitch is the install requries the bumper to be temporarily removed...

As you are going to be carrying a bike rack an important measurement is the hitch pin center to bumper measurement which we find to be 5" when installed in our shop. Curt's instructions state, the Curt Cam Buckle Stabilizing Strap # 18050 is required for all 1-1/4" hitch-mounted bike racks and failure to use it voids the hitch warranty.
