Replacement 4 Bolt Tire/Wheel Combination for Small Utility Trailer

Question:
I need to change out the tires and rims on my 8x4 utility trailer. Rims are a 4 lug 4 inch center and the tires are 185/80R13. Im looking for an economic solution for replacement. Load capacity isnt an issue and a B or C rating would be enough as the trailer mostly hauls brush, firewood, and occasionally woodchips. Would a 5.3 x 12 tire/rim combo work as a replacement for the current set up? Any other options or suggestions?

I recommend staying with a tire size similar to what you have now, although since weight capacity isn't an issue, you can go a bit smaller. We offer several economic wheel/tire options in varying sizes and load ranges that would be ideal for your trailer and towing needs. For the 5.30-12 size you mentioned, I suggest our Kenda 5.30-12 Bias Trailer Tire with 12" White Wheel 4 on 4 - Load Range C, # AM30780. Or, for an even lighter load range, you could go with our Kenda 5.30-12 Bias Trailer Tire with 12" White Wheel - 4 on 4 - Load Range B, # AM30700. This model is designed for excellent high-speed handling up to 65 mph and includes a rust-resistant e-coat.
If you'd like to stick with radial tires like you have now, another option is a size 145/80-12 model, although these are only available in load range D. I recommend our Kenda Karrier S-Trail ST145/R12 Radial Tire w/ 12" White Spoke Wheel - 4 on 4, # AM35351DX. Radial tires tend to last longer than bias tires and also provide better traction, stability, and tread wear.
Another option is a 175/80-13 wheel combination, which is a similar size to what you currently own. I recommend the Loadstar ST175/80D13 Bias Trailer Tire with 13" White Wheel - 4 on 4 - Load Range B, # AM3S030. This model includes a rust-resistant e-coat and an advanced rubber compound for longer tread wear and a smooth ride.
