Question:
Hi. I own a Jayco Jay Sport 8 has 5.30-12 tires currently that need to be replaced. I want to go with radial tires and higher weight load. Most often I am towing myself, so want to feel more comfortable on the highways. What would you recommend? Also as far as installation, is that something I can do myself, like changing a car tire I would imagine?

Typically when it comes to replacing a trailer tire I recommend sticking with the same size. Although I do not know the weight capacity of your current tires, we do have the Taskmaster 5.30R12 Radial Trailer Tire - Load Range C # TT53012C. This radial tire has a maximum load of 1,050 lbs at 80 psi with a max speed of 81 mph. It looks like your trailer has a GVWR of 1,995 lbs so these tires will handle that without any issues.
Because of the tire size, it is also possible to go to a 145/80-12 tire since the difference in diameter and width is nearly the same. You would lose about 1/4" of clearance on the inside of the tire but that shouldn't be a problem. We have the Kenda Karrier S-Trail ST145/R12 Radial Trailer Tire - Load Range E # AM10140 with a maximum load of 1,520 lbs at 80 psi. The only problem with this tire and most of the others at this size is the speed rating limiting you to 65 mph. The only tire in this size with a higher speed rating is the # AM35351DX but it only comes as a combo with a wheel.
You can definitely install the tires yourself, just like changing a car tire. If you need a jack I recommend the Powerbuilt Unijack - 18-3/8" Lift - 4,000 lbs # ALL620470. This has a safety bar to lock the jack into place which removes the need for jack stands. If you do not feel comfortable with installaing/changing tires I recommend taking your trailer to a local shop for installation.
I have attached some review videos for your reference.
