Question:
Background: I get some clicking/skipping noise when lifting my trailer, the gearbox and motor seem to be binding, jerking and skipping. The legs are in the center of their full travel. I removed the original gearbox Venture Manufacturing which is plastic. The gears inside the gearbox look fine, I dont see any sign of severe wear. I thought maybe they are skipping from the flex when jerking and lifting the trailer, but not certain. The drive shafts also seem fine nothing visibly worn or broken, the trailer still raises and lowers, but Im sure its just a matter of time before something breaks. I dont get this clicking/skipping sound when manual cranking, of course I cant crank it as fast as the motor does. The motor disconnected turns fine and makes no noise when under a no load. 2008 Weekend Warrior LED 3505 Questions: 1. Does this sound like a gearbox problem? The gearbox case is plastic, but the case and internals do not appear damaged. Also seems like manual cranking would produce the same clicking/skipping results, but it does not. 2. Can you please provide replacement part #s for the motor, gearbox, and both legs? 3. Is there any way to change the speed of the lift? Currently 3:1 which is super slow. Thanks for your support!

It does sound like you have isolated the issue indirectly. If you can move everything manually without issue, then the screws in the legs are fine. The gearbox works fine under manual load, so gears are fine, and motor seems to work fine, so the issue most likely isn't your landing gear. The issue could be a weak battery. I recommend testing your battery to make sure it is charged.
The 3:1 ratio is standard on landing gear but you can upgrade the motor speed for faster lift using the High Speed Motor # LC141893. If you want to replace your gearbox and have a Lippert, Stomberg, or Venture landing gear set you would need the part # LG-179015.
If you want to replace your landing gear completely, the current system can be replaced with the Stromberg Carlson Electric Landing Gear Set - Weld On - 34-7/8" Lift - 5,500 lbs # LG-1. If you want to upgrade your system, I recommend the Ultra-Fab Deluxe Electric Landing Gear Set - 38" Lift - 12,000 lbs # UF17-943010 which will give you a motor for each leg with its own switch.
