This setup is made for the long haul. The computer-cut, all-steel brackets bolt right to the frame for a solid, factory-fit connection that handles heavy-duty towing. The black powder coat finish resists corrosion and road grime so you can count on it to hold up after thousands of miles of travel. Reviewers point out how sturdy and well-built it feels once installed—exactly what you want when your vehicle is tagging along behind the RV.
When you’re not towing, the front end stays clean and uncluttered. The drawbars come off easily with two pins, leaving behind brackets that tuck neatly inside the grille. Nothing sticks out to bump into, and most of the hardware stays protected from scuffs and scrapes. With the arms removed, the setup is practically invisible—no bulky crossbar or steel hanging out where it doesn’t belong.
This direct-connect design skips the crossbar altogether, making setup faster and easier. The arms slide right into the receivers and pin in place for a quick, secure connection. It works with Roadmaster tow bars that slide into a trailer hitch receiver—like the Nighthawk, Sterling, Blackhawk, Blackhawk 2, Falcon, and Falcon 2—so there’s no extra hardware in the way when it’s time to hit the road or unhook at camp.
No welding required and no guesswork needed here. The kit includes all mounting hardware and clear instructions for a straightforward install using existing frame points. One reviewer even mentioned finishing up in about two and a half hours—including a lunch break—and didn’t have to cut the bumper cover at all. It’s a satisfying weekend job for anyone who likes to tackle their own setup and knows the value of parts that fit like they should.

It fit perfect. I was surprised that I didn't have to cut the grill. Everything lined up and made it so easy to install.
Salesman was very helpful in assisting me in purchasing correct package for my flat tow. Fast delivery
Perfect fit. Very easy installation.
The base plate was a perfect fit for my 2005 Honda Element. Didn't need to trim front cover.
Fast service.
Received the product before I received the tracking number..... less than a week!
The product was well packaged, came on time, and installed perfectly. The installation instructions were clear and easy to follow.
Really pleased with the hitch for my Honda Element ! Super easy to install. Dealing with etrailer was a pleasure. Stacey was informative and extremely helpful !!!
Fits very well. Easy to install.
Great information. Quick delivery. Easy installation. Pulled Honda Element 4500 miles last summer and baseplate performed well.
I was shocked at how easy and precise fitting this base plate installed on a 19 year old 2005 Honda Element AWD with +180K miles! I didn't have to trim anything. I did have to use a smaller but same thickness washer on the inside passage side frame rail as the supplied washer was hitting a factory stop plate which I didn't wish to mess with.
Easy placement!
Best price I could find. Perfect fit on my 2006 Honda Element (towed). Will continue to use you guys in the future. As you see I just ordered the back up lights for my 2002 Allegro Bus from you. They just got here and are once again, a perfect fit. Thanks
We mounted this base plate on our Honda CRV and went on a 5000 mile trip while towing our car. The base plate worked great and we had no issues. I really like the removable arm feature. It makes for a clean look when removed.
Very easy installation on 2003 Honda Element. No cutting required and fit was perfect. Delivery was exceptional. Will definitely be a return customer!

Still performing like a champ! No problems whatsoever! Great product!
The base plate was perfect for my 2003 CRV tow vehicle. William was very helpful and professional on the phone. I installed it myself in about 3 hours. On line videos are available to clarify instructions. The lighting kit was even easier. Ill be ordering the braking unit next. Thanks guys.
Perfect fit
Easy Installation for even a novice installer. Hardly noticeable after installation.
The Roadmaster tow bar mounts were easy to install and fit great. They worked without fail up to Alaska and Canada over 10K miles.
Also the tail light wiring kit made for an easy install.
I installed both products myself, but in fairness I am a former ASE cert mechanic.

It looks like I just installed it. Even after quite a few trips. And never have had a problem.
Easy installation. I watched the video a couple of times and read the PDF instructions before my order arrived. When my order arrived I verified that I had all of the parts and in an hour and a half the base plate was on and project completed. I didn't need to trim my grill at all and it looks great.
Excellent product. Easy to install on my 2005 Honda Element. Didn't have to cut anything on the frame or the grill fascia. Went with the Roadmaster over the Blue Ox because it is a less conspicuous baseplate and it wasn't necessary to alter any of the frame/metal on the car. I have a Blue Ox tow bar so I also had to have an adapter kit to hook the two together. Etrailer.com was very helpful getting me the correct parts I needed. Their customer service is A+++.
I have attached 'before' and 'after' pictures (I think). I cut the electrical mount and a few tabs off of the baseplate to give it a cleaner look. I will hide the wires behind the grill and bring them out when in use. Also purchased a few plastic caps to cover tubes.
Perfect fit for my 2008 Honda Element SC Automatic! There were questions of whether this model was flat towable or not? After researching the heck out of it, I took the chance and I use the Honda 2005 flat tow instructions from the owners manual of that year (there were no engine or tranny changes from 2005 to 2008 that I could see). Perfect! I've now towed my Element over 500 miles without issue. This baseplate and instructions are great. I already had the Roadmaster Falcon 2 tow bar. I use the invsibrake system for the toad brake and love that also.
Excellent service -- ordered online afternoon of July 13; shipped same day and arrived two days later. etrailer video was helpful in outlining steps for installation - especially fascia removal prior to actual install. Installation took about 3 1/2 hours which includes fascia/grill removal and reinstall. Did need to secure additional fender clips to reinstall fascia - many broke during removal as almost 20 years old -- available aftermarket from Dorman. Order arrived correct with all parts/no damage. Fit was excellent. Will order from etrailer again

Have towed a 2004 Honda CRV with this base plate installed for about 8,000 miles since installation. All nuts are still tight on bolts. Had to shave one of the finger grips on my 4-way electric cable as the mounting bracket on the base plate was 1 inch too close to the license plate mounting bracket. Other than that quick fix, product is performing as expected.
I originally purchased a Blue Ox baseplate to install since I already had a tow bar. Upon removing the front grill, I was surprised to find the used Element I had purchased already had the front bumper caps removed and 2 braces installed. Thanks to the photos on etrailer reviews and product info, I was able to determine that the vehicle had previously had a roadmaster baseplate installed! I purchased this unit and it fit perfectly onto the already installed braces. Seems very solid and high-quality so far.

holding up great!
2002 Honda CR-V. Easy to install. Two and a half hours, and stopped to eat a sandwich. To install the spacers inside the roll frame on the car I used an extension magnet to reach in there and position them. As you can see NO cutting was needed on the bumper cover!
Now I have to figure out the easiest way to run the wiring for the lights.
Thanks Lauren A for your help!

Install for the base plate looks awesome, Joe! Unsure if you have a wiring kit yet but there are a few options so I'll go ahead share them with you here in case you don't yet. The most popular kit would be part # RM-15267. This can be difficult to install but it is the most reliable. I've also linked an install video for this kit. Something that still has an integrated look but easier to install I would go with part # RM-155. You do have to drill some holes into the back of the light housing, so if you're okay with doing that, this may be the better kit. Also included an install video for that kit as well. Hopefully the videos will help you get a good idea of how to run the wiring for your lights. Let me know if you have any questions after watching!
