Question:

Im looking at purchasing the Draw-Tite #24914 and wanted to confirm that the Chinook would fit when folded up without bikes. The carrying capacity is attractive, I have two bikes that I have converted to E-Bikes and with batteries removed are around 40 to 43 Lbs each.

We have not had a chance to install the # 24914 trailer hitch on a Mazda 3, but there is a way to determine if you have enough room for the bike carriers. If you look at the attached directions and then look under your Mazda you can measure from the holes on your vehicle frame that are used for the installation rearward to note where the hitch pin hole will be.

The Chinook, part # S64683 has 6-inches from the hitch pin hole to the closest part of the carrier when folded up and 12-1/2 when folded down.

If you measure more than 6-inches from where the hitch pin hole will be when the hitch is installed on your Mazda then you will have no clearance problems with this bike carrier.
