All the hitches we offer for your 2011 Chevrolet Equinox have similar designs, and they are actually going to fit in nearly the same location. There is a center panel in the center of your vehicle bumper that will be removed for the hitch installation, and the hitch receiver opening will fit up into the space that is left when the panel is removed. Because of this, the hitches for your vehicle are all going to be mostly hidden. The same hitches that fit your vehicle also fit some similar models by other manufacturers, like the GMC Terrain and Saturn Vue, but the hitches run below the bumpers on these vehicles. The installation pictures that show the other vehicle models are not representative of the way the hitches will look on your Equinox.

For reference, you can look at the pictures we have of the 2 inch trailer hitch # e98865 installed on a 2010 model, or the 1-1/4 inch hitch # 36408 installed on the 2010 Equinox of one of our coworkers. I am including links to the installation instructions and videos for each hitch. If you go to the product page for each model, you can view and zoom in on the installation pictures.

I would recommend a 2 inch hitch like hitch # e98865 for your application, as this would give you many more choices if you wanted to use a hitch accessory like a bike rack or cargo carrier. If you choose to tow a trailer, you will also need a ball mount, hitch ball, hitch pin, and wiring to complete your setup. My recommendations are listed below.

Ballmount with 3/4 inch rise or 2 inch drop - C45010
2 inch trailer hitch lock - e98880
Custom wiring kit - 118494
2 inch hitch ball - 19247

I am including some links to additional information on towing and hitch installation if needed.
