The factory brake controller harness on your 2011 Dodge Dakota with factory tow package will be located underneath the dash and left of the steering column, taped to another harness near the emergency brake pedal. There will be a 4-pin connector that mates with the one on the brake controller adapter.
It is possible that the harness is tucked up behind and/or taped to other wiring or it could have fallen behind the driver's side kick panel to the left of the emergency brake pedal.
If you do not yet have a brake controller I recommend the P2 # 90885 because it is easy to set up and use and it is reliable. For this controller and your truck you would need brake controller wiring harness # 3020-P. We do not have a video showing installation on a Dakota put I have linked one on a Ram and installation will be similar on your truck.
