This hitch gives you everyday utility and strength with a 5,000 lbs maximum gross trailer weight and 500 lbs maximum tongue weight. When used with weight distribution, it handles up to 8,000 lbs GTW and 800 lbs TW. It’s ideal for towing small trailers, boats, or campers, and just as good for carrying bike racks or cargo carriers. Install It Yourself Without the Hassle: Bolt-On Mounting with Included Hardware

You don’t need to weld or cut anything to get this hitch on your vehicle. It bolts right onto the frame using the included hardware kit and standard tools. The precision, robotic welds make sure the fit is right where it should be, giving you solid alignment for a simple DIY project in your own driveway.

Built to Last in Real Conditions: Matte Black Powder Coat Over Steel

The matte black powder coat finish gives this hitch a rugged look while protecting it from rust and corrosion. The coating also hides dirt, scuffs, and dings better than glossy finishes, so it stays looking clean even after heavy use. Underneath that finish is fully welded steel built for long-term durability through weather and road debris.

This was a great choice, bolted right on, using existing factory holes. installation was a snap.

by:

My order was shipped the same day my order was placed. I will be looking at them in the future for any needed parts. 5 star service most definitely!

by:

Hitch broke through packaging in a few places. Just a few
minor scrapes on the hitch, otherwise ok.

by:

Shipping was a little slow ( probably UPS fault) but the receiver seems to be very well built. Looking forward to getting it installed tomorrow

by:

It was so easy to install great product

by:

Fit perfectly. Great quality

by:

Excellent product, instructions are very clear

by:

Perfect fit, well made.

by:

I put 4 stars because I didn’t really like the way they package my tow hitch. I wish in the future they could find a way where the hitch doesn’t go through the box. Other than that it work and look good on my 2000 dodge Dakota

by:

Easy to install. Packaging was slightly damaged, bud did not damage the product.

by:

Cutting the useless plate hanging between the frame bolts on my Dakota was the hardest part of this install. Otherwise this lovely hitch bolted on in a few minutes with the help of a jack stand and a 2x4.

by:

Bolted right in place no issues

by:

Great Service and parts

by:

Perfect fit easy to install all hardware was in package

by:

Was really solid and easy to install. Enjoyed it for 11 months until someone hit my packed car and sheered one of the welds. Will be ordering a replacement at some point!

by:

I had to modify this a little as it showed up with bent mounting ears. However, it worked great and towed 900 miles.

by:

I haven’t had one concern with my product that I bought from you. The hitch is absolutely does his job.

by:

I installed this hitch on a 2000 Dodge Dakota it showed up pretty quick, which was great because I need it for business. It only took like 10-15 minutes to install, torque the bolts, and plug in the pnp light adapter.

by:

Hitch fit perfectly. This was my son’s second attempt to fit a hit to his late model truck. After a purchase from another supplier failed with a universal hitch. I suggested trying etrailer for the win. Fit up perfectly. The hardest part was removing old hardware to make room for the new install.

by:

This trailer hitch receiver fit perfectly on my 2003 Dakota. Working great with no issues.

by:

It was an easy install by myself in my driveway with a floor jack to support and position hitch. Took almost an hour. Had an issue with a damaged carriage bolt, and after a call to support, a new package of hardware was delivered quickly to remedy.

The install was easy by myself lying on dry way with a small floor jack. Has worked flawlessly making two 900 plus mile trips pulling U-haul trailers.

  • Is There a Way to Install Hitch on 1979 Subaru Brat
Hey Richard, so we don't have any hitches that fit your 1979 Subaru Brat but what you might do is check with a local welder/fabricator and see if they can make you a hitch for the truck. If this is the vehicle you really want to keep I would at least try that before selling it to keep the 99 Dakota. For the 99' Dakota though we have great hitch options like the etrailer part # e53AR.

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch for a 2003 Dodge Dakota
I took a look at the online owner's manual for your 2003 Dodge Dakota and it looked like the max towing capacity for your pickup when equipped with a Class III trailer hitch is 5,000 lbs. Since all of the trailer hitches available for your pickup are Class III with a max rating of 5,000 lbs (500 lbs tongue weight) and similar install difficulty (per the manufacturers) it really boils down to style. The 2 trailer hitches that are easiest to install are the Curt # C13280 and the etrailer...

  • Trailer Hitch Fit and Towing Capacity of 2004 Dodge Dakota 4.7L V8
The etrailer # e53AR Class 3 trailer hitch you'd looked at is a confirmed fit for a 2004 Dodge Dakota. The hitch has a 5000 lb towing capacity and a 500 lb tongue weight capacity. According to information I found online, the 2004 Dodge Dakota can tow up to 6600 lbs for a regular cab 2WD with the 3.92 rear end. Towing capacity is lower for 4WD vehicles and models equipped with the Club or Quad cab. The actual towing capacity will depend on the cab configuration, whether the vehicle is a...

  • Is Drilling Required to Install etrailer Trailer Hitch # e53AR on a 1995 Dodge Dakota
According to the installation instructions, you will have to do a little bit of drilling in order to install etrailer Trailer Hitch, # e53AR, on your 1995 Dodge Dakota. I have included a link to the installation details for you to view. With any of the available hitches for your truck, there will be some drilling involved. If you decide to go with this hitch, the ball mount is # 36051 and you can use pin and clip # PC2. For a ball you can use # 19256 (1-7/8 inch diameter) or # 19258 (2...

  • Curt Or etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver For a 2001 Dodge Dakota?
The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13280 and etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e53AR are very similar in their design. Both receivers will attach to the same points on your 2001 Dodge Dakota. There are some slight differences in the construction with the Curt having more curved brackets that attach to the side of the frame. The Curt # C13280 has a tongue weight capacity of 500lbs and 5,000lbs trailer capacity. With a weight distribution hitch the capacity increases to 800lbs of tongue...

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch, Wiring, and Ball Mount for Towing with a 2004 Dodge Dakota
The trailer hitch I recommend for your 2004 Dodge Dakota is the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e53AR because it has a hidden crosstube and a matte black finish which means it will be a bit more durable than the classic glossy black finish you see on the other hitch options. With the Draw-Tite QSP Trailer Hitch Silencer and Cover # 63080 fitting loose on your Hitch # e53AR the only way to make it fit would be to add material on the hitch. This device is specifically designed for Draw-Tite receivers and it is not always exactly the same end across all manufacturers. You can try cutting some thin strips of steel to place between the cover and the end of your receiver to reduce the play. But the best fix is going to involve welding onto the receiver collar and...

I do have a great option for you, however the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # 75648 that you referenced will not fit your 1997 Dodge Dakota. This particular hitch is designed for certain model years of the Dodge Journey and it will not line up with the frame rails on the Dakota. • Recommended Trailer Hitch for 2003 Dodge Dakota
Yes, the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e53AR referenced in your question is confirmed to fit your 2003 Dodge Dakota Quad Cab.
