Question:
I want to to an airstream with a 2000 4.7L Tundra I am getting a killer deal on. Unfortunately, no tow package on the Tundra-so no wiring either. What items would I need to attach to the 7-pin trailer socket, as well as add a brake controller? Also what brake controller. I want a good one. Thanks in advance. I have a feeling this will be a project :-

Since you have no trailer wiring on your 2000 Tundra, you will want to first install a 4-way like part # 118367. You can plug this into the wiring that is on the driver side frame rail near the back of the Tundra. I have attached a photo that shows where you can find this plug.
You will then find the connector located between the battery and the fender under the hood. I have attached a photo of this as well you can check out.
The brake controller I recommend is the Tekonsha Prodigy P3, part # 90195. This is a proportional controller that applies the brakes on the trailer in direct proportion to the braking action of the towing vehicle. This is one of our most popular because it is easy to install and operate. Since there is no pug-in port available on your Tundra the brake controller will need to be hardwired.
Since you will be using a brake controller you will need the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller, part # ETBC7 along with some additional wiring # 10-2-1. This will attach to your 4-way connector and after completing the wiring give you a 7-way trailer connector at the rear of your Tundra.
I have also attached a wiring diagram you can check out that shows how the wiring is run when installing a brake controller.
You can check out the helpful articles I have attached that explain brake controller installation and testing.
