Video Transcript for Deka Jacketed 2 Wire, 10 Gauge, Brake Wire Feature Review

Today we're going to take a look at the Decca jacketed 2 wire 10 gauge brake wire and this is sold per foot. I have a sample here, this is just to show you that this combination of the 2 heavy duty 10 gauge wires. They're jacketed individually and then all together. It's perfect for when installing a trailer brake controller on your vehicle. The 10 gauge duplex brake wire made with the 2 plastic insulated primary wires are laid parallel and the wires are covered with this high quality plastic jacket that protects the insulated conductors. The conductors are color coded for easy identification.

You can see a white and a black. This does meet all the SAEJ1128 specifications up to 50 volts and the insulation is rated to 105 degrees Celsius. Basically what this is used for is one wire is connected to your brake controller which carries the power back from the trailer brakes while the other is connected directly to the vehicle battery for an auxiliary power supply pin in the trailer connector. That should do it for the review of the Decca jacketed 2 wire 10 gauge brake wire and this is sold per foot.

  • How to Make an Adapter to Go from Semi Truck 7-Way Round to RV Style 7-Way Blade on Trailer
Either way is correct. It depends on if you want to keep the semi-style 7-Way (if you need to tow that type of trailer) or if you will never be towing a semi-trailer. If you need to keep the 7-Way semi active on the truck, then you would need to make an adapter to get it to work with an RV 7-Way. For that you would need a trailer side 7-Way round, # PK11702, a converter, # RM-732, and a vehicle side 7-Way RV style, # PK12-707E. A semi-7-Way has separate circuits for the brake lights and...

  • Brake Controller Installation for Motorhome with Air Brakes
A brake controller like the Tekonsha P3 will work just fine with the air braking system on your motorhome. The controller will get its input from the brake stoplight switch, which tells it when the brakes are being applied. If there is a 7-way trailer connector at the rear bumper, there might be a connector located under the dash that the controller would simply plug into. You would need to contact the motorhome manufacturer for more information about this. If you do not have a 7-way...

It sounds like you have found the bundle under the rear of your 2005 Chevy Silverado that would be used for wiring up a 7-way. In the bundle of wires, look for the following colors: Yellow = left turn and brake light Dark Green = right turn and brake light Brown = tail lights White = ground Light Blue = not used (camper shell light) Light Green = reverse lights The definitive way to determine the wire functions is to use a circuit tester, # PTW2993, and test each wire while someone sits...

  • How to Wire Electric Brakes on a Tandem Axle Trailer
If your trailer has 7 wires running all the way back to the brakes, then yes, you can tap into the existing wiring. Each of your new brakes will have two wires for the brake magnet. One wire is for 12 volt power to the brake magnets and the other wire should be grounded either to the trailer frame or to the main trailer ground wire. It does not matter which wire is used for power or ground because they are not polarized. If the trailer wiring is running down the left side of the trailer,...

The best way so hookup a P3 # 90195 to a Volvo semi is to wire the semi with its own separate 7 blade connector. • Electric Brake Compatibility on a Boat Trailer
Electric brakes on a boat trailer are able to be used without much issue at all. There obviously is an issue with water and electricity, so it is recommended to disconnect the trailer connection when your trailer is being submerged for launch. A few seconds after pulling out of the water, you can connect your wiring without any issues and have the functioning braking system that is easier to maintain. Many boat trailers are moving to electric systems. I do recommend using dielectric...
