Rugged, Matte Black Finish

The sturdy steel construction is protected with a matte black finish for added durability. This unique powder coating gives etrailer hitches a carbide-like appearance and a rugged look that sets them apart from traditional glossy hitches. In addition to being rust and corrosion resistant, the tough matte coating hides dirt, scuffs, and dings better than a glossy finish.

2007 Toyota Tacoma

The first hitch didn't fit my Toyota Tacoma (brackets angled in) and the second hitch they shipped also didn't fit (angled out). I can't tell if it was bent in shipping or manufactured wrong. The box was damaged but the hitch didn't show any scars. I don't think a customer should need to bend a product as was suggested by customer service. I think at minimum it should be more protected during boxing. see annotated photo showing 2nd hitch.

Nice solid hitch receiver. Not difficult to install.

Still working excellent with no issues towing a 15 foot boat.

by:

The hitch is of good quality and it fit perfectly. I found that the best way to install the hitch is to remove the rear bumper entirely. All the mounting bolts need to be removed anyway and the two on the bumper are hard to get to and probably were in there since my 2007 truck was new. Much easier to remove all the bolts with the bumper off and the hitch is easy to install with no bumper in the way. Finished install looks good with very little of the hitch showing except for the receiver. PS I'm a pretty good DIY type and it took 4 hours to install this hitch.

by:

The hitch fit well. No bolts washers or spacers were include. Went to local ace and got bolts, not cheap.$4.99 ea Had my own washers but not spacers. I will find spacers and reinstall.

It’s built very well. The Tacoma frame tappers towards the bumper. Extremely tight fit, rubber mallet is helpful.
But it fit, I’m happy.

by:

Very fast shipping. Packing box was torn in a couple of places, but no damage to the product and no lost parts.

2009 Toyota Tacoma

Took me only an hour to install. The four washer/spacers/shims were difficult to get aligned with the bolt holes.
The right side brackets was bent, probably during shipment. I did get it bent back in place. Took a large bench vice and some leverage to get bracket back in its original position.
Other than these 2 issues, this install was a clean and neat project for the 2009 Toyota Tacoma.

It sounds like that the side brackets were knocked out of alignment which is why the bolt holes are not lining up. This can happen while in transit to our facility or to you. We do have a great FAQ that provides ways to move the brackets back into alignment so the hitch can be installed.

by:

Fully recommended for all use. Thoroughly impressed.

by:

The perfect solution for my towing needs. A high-quality product delivered by a fast reliable service at a great price.

by:

I haven’t seen the product yet, because I’m currently deployed. However I am already going to give it a 4 star review just based on their customer service. It’s been remarkable. Really feels like less like a massive corporation and more of a small business that actually cares.

2006 Toyota Tacoma

One pretty aggravating problem. Included instructions said to add four metal spacers, 2 to each side. Adding the spacers was a pain and when I went to add the bumper it turned out to be wrong and I had to remove the hitch receiver and remount it without the spacers in order for the bumper to fit.

by:

Excellent product.

Perfect fit easy install solid construc tion

by:

It works as it should. No complaints

by:

Once the receiver was finally installed, I was happy with it. Getting it installed took 3 days of working out rusted bolts and cleaning bolt holes. Like a few people have mentioned, the hitch arrived bent. Ended up using a storm drain/curb to bend it straight. Made for a difficult fit but it worked. The one tip I'd give for people doing this solo, is to use heavy duty zip ties through the horizontal bolt holes. Lift up one end, get the zips started. Then put one on the other end. Goal is to get it all up and close enough to get one bolt started. Tighten the ties as you go along. After one bolt is in, cut out a tie on the opposite side, replace with a bolt. Repeat for the last two. Laying on my back, I used my knee to push up on the bumper to help align everything. It worked much easier than trying to muscle things up. Didn't have a jack tall enough or stabile enough to hold the receiver up while bolting it in.

by:

Sturdy and fit like a wet glove. Small parts kit helped in the installation and the delivery was relatively quick considering the size and weight.

It continues to be stable and works as it should. There have been no problems at all.

by:

Received it damaged. etrailer made excuses. Had to pay garage extra to have it repaired and installed. Bad business.

by:

Installed today Video instructions were flawless Will install the light kit tomorrow So here’s the skinny. I’m 59 yo, it was 98 degrees out today, and I finished in a couple hours with the help of a floor jack. I would absolutely recommend an extra set of hands and a lift if available. But hey if I can crawl around on the concrete so can you

2007 Toyota Tacoma

Great product! Fast and timely shipping. Only issue is side brackets flexed due to shipping and it was short by a 1/4 inch for me to bolt on frame. Resolved it by using a bottle jack and 2x4 and flexed the side brackets out to the correct fit. Very sturdy and strong and secure to pull my 21 ft boat.

by:

Quality product received super quick. The hitch fit right up nice. Will do business with again. Thanks so much.

2013 Toyota Tacoma

Great product!, Quick shipping!
Very
easy to install and it fits perfect on my 2013 Tacoma

by:

Had to really work to get the one side straightened out enough to fit onto my frame. Plenty of cuss words and bloody knuckles but it finally fit. 100% bent on delivery. This steel is strong enough that it wouldn’t “flex” during shipment. Likely a production line issue.

  • Can 2013 Toyota Tacoma OEM Trailer Hitch Be Replaced with Aftermarket Trailer Hitch
The 5,000 lb tow weight rating is definitely enough to safely tow a car trailer weighing in at 4,600 lbs total. The only time I would be nervous about the weight difference is if it was under 100 lbs in your situation. According to my research the OEM hitch on your 2013 Toyota Tacoma installs using the bumper brackets so if you remove the OEM hitch you'll need to find replacement brackets for the bumper. Once that is done you can install an aftermarket hitch and for that I recommend the...

I did a search for an owner's manual for a 2007 Toyota Tacoma, which has the capacities in it, and so long as the Tacoma has the factory towing package it can tow the nearly 3,900 lb Forest River trailer you mentioned. In order to do that you will need a number of different parts if you don't have them, starting with the hitch: - etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e98850 If your 2007 Tacoma does not have the factory 7-way, you will need to add wiring, which you can so with the following...

  • Recommended Hitch and Weight Distribution System for 2014 Toyota Tacoma Towing Camper
A trailer hitch like the etrailer # e98850 is a Class III hitch (hitches are given a class based on their weight capacity and receiver size) and will attach to the frame of your 2014 Toyota Tacoma, so it will provide a secure connection to your vehicle to tow a trailer. It looks like the towing capacity on your vehicle is between 3300-lbs and 3500-lbs, so you'll want to make sure you don't exceed the towing capacity of your truck with the camper's weight. The price of the hitch isn't...

  • Recommended Replacement Trailer Hitch Receiver For A 2008 Toyota Tacoma
The only compatible Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver for a 2008 Toyota Tacoma is the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # 75236, which excludes X-Runner models. If you have a regular Tacoma then you'd be fine using that hitch. If you do have an X-Runner model then I'd recommend going with the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e98850, which is a fit for both the X-Runner and regular models. Hello Denny, great question. It is possible to install our etrailer Class 3 Hitch # e98850 on a 2010 Toyota Tacoma with the factory installed hitch. The etrailer Ball Mount Kit for 2" Hitches # 989891 does not have the same matte black powder coat finish as the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e98850. The ball mount is a bit glossier so they aren't a perfect match but it will be pretty difficult to tell the hitch and ball mount apart unless someone is really trying to find a difference. There are three trailer hitch receivers that are fits for a 2005 Toyota Tacoma, and according to the manufacturers, from outside-to-outside at the widest points the hitches were approximately 38-1/2 inches wide. That would be the part of the hitch that attaches to the outside of the frame rail, but as you can see from the cut out of the installation instructions, there is a flange on the inside which is about 1/2 inch from the sides.
