Video Transcript for Feature Review CE Smith Trailer Wheel Lug Nut

AJ: What's up, everybody It's AJ with etrailer.com. Today we're going to be looking at this lug nut from C.E. Smith. This lug nut fits half inch bolts and it has 20 threads per inches. I'm sure most of you know what a lug nut is and what it's for, because you probably already need one, but we're going to show you an example on this U-bolt spare tire carrier. Most of the time they don't come with a lug nut, so you'd have to get one separate.

These are the ones for you.You see, you just put it on there and tighten it down. Make sure that the small part here at the bottom, the 60 degree cone part goes towards the tire. That just helps it get into the lug nut hole here and really tighten it down. With them tightened down by hand, we're going to use the wrenches, get a couple more turns on there just to make sure that the tire's not going anywhere. Do this one another turn.

There.Keep in mind, these come in a quantity of one. So if you're going to use it on a spare tire carrier like we showed you inside, you're only going to need two of these. If you're going to put a tire on a trailer like here, you're going to need five of them. There's many different uses for the lug nut, I'm not going to rattle off a bunch of them because you probably know exactly what you need this for, and you just need to order it. So that does it for our look at the C.E.

Just installed! Seems supper solid. I will say getting the bolts loose to make the adjustments is a tug-o-war. Make sure you watch the installation video- made it supper easy! I give it 4 starts cuz I want to give it time to prove itself out. But I suspect a 5 start would be appropriate

Glad to hear you like your Demco Trailer Stake Pocket Spare Tire Mount # DM15850-76 so far! They can be a bit stiff, but that just means they are going to last. : P That is a sweet tire cover, by the way! Is this on a car hauler?

by:

The unit looks strong enough to hold the spare but I would suggest providing fine thread bolts to mount the spare so the same lug nuts can be used as the trailer wheels use. I swapped out the coarse thread bolts for some fine thread bolts and it looks good so far!

by:

Easy way yo order the part that fits your vehicle. I tried buying them from an anto parts store but ended up with wrong threads and had to return them. The ones from etrailer were easy to find and the right part for my RV.

by:

Good quality, worked great.

by:

The new lug nuts worked great on my trailer. Perfect match for my new wheels / tires. Five [stars]

by:

Ms Paula has helped me twice and great service and fast delivery

Will recommend her to anyone or company

by:

Works as intended

by:

Put these on an old pontoon boat trailer while doing several upgrades to bring it up to date. Wheels and tires went a long way towards a new look. Happy with them after 1 year.

by:

Loved the offset tire mount, very heavy duty. I ordered two lug nuts and got one. I agree with the other comments made on the mount , that given the price it should include the two lug nuts.

by:

My original steel lug nuts were rusty. Haulmark does not sell lug nuts, so etrailer was the place to go to get zinc plated lug nuts that are unlikely to develop rust. Mine were 18 years old, so not a surprise they had developed rust.

I am very pleased with my purchase from etrailer. I received my product very quickly and was constantly updated on the status of my order.

by:

I ordered (2) trailer tires and wheels, along with lug nuts and a spare tire carrier and received my order right on time and the quality was excellent. I will definitely tell others about etrailer.com and I personally will use them anytime I need parts for my trailer.

Great company to do business with.

Thanks you etrailer!

by:

I bought 32 lug nuts. 1 was incorrect. Rather than calling etrailer and requesting a replacement, I went to my local chain auto store. The price of just 1 at the parts store was 5 times the price. I have bought many items from etrailer and other than 1 lug nut everything has been just what I asked for and priced very reasonably. Every part and every person at etrailer is a 15 out of a possible 10.

by:

Nuts. These seem to be as good as any OEM lug nuts. There's not a lot else to say, except maybe they don't taste as good as planter's nut's or there much harder to chew.

Still hard to chew.

by:

Purchased new tires and wheel, already mounted with new lug nuts to go on my older camper. Received on time, what I ordered, fit perfectly. I installed myself no problems. Have recommended you products to several people.

by:

Received the hubs very quickly. They were well greesed and ready to go. They look well machined. I did have one lug nut that had something wrong with the threads. I might could have used it, but since it would not thread on by hand I did not want to try it since it might damage the stud. I went on line and did a chat with etrailer. Thier customer service is top rated. They shipped me out another lug nut. This is why I do business with etrailer. They understand the needs of the customer and understand the products they sell.

I installed the hubs this weekend and took the trailer for a test pull. Needed to adjust the brakes up a little, but all was well.

by:

These were cheap enough so I replaced the old rusty lugs that were on my trailer when I replaced the wheels and tires. They installed seamlessly with my cordless impact wrench. Total work time to take the old ones off and jack up the trailer and put the new ones on was less than five minutes.

by:

Product was exactly as described and has held up well for the year I’ve owned it. Customers service, shipping, everything was on point. If I have trailer needs in the future I’ll definitely be shopping here.

by:

these lug nuts are far better then the original equipment

I will use the product in the restoration of a 1962 Aristocrat. The ordering, shipping and pricing was excellent. I wish you had red lens for the teardrop clearance light kits.

If I could upload a picture, I would. They are holding up well. I dont use the trailer much in the winter as it is an open design but so far very little if any oxidation!

Fast and accurate order fulfillment. Always great service.

I buy so many products from e-trailer I have not a clue which parts we may be speaking about. However ever part and every person at etrailer is a 15 out of a possible 10.

  • Lug Nut Size for 7,000 lb Trailer with 5-Bolt Pattern Hub and Drum Assemblies
If you're trailer has an overall weight capacity of 7,000 lbs this likely means you have a tandem axle trailer and hub and drums with a 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern like part # AKHD-545-35-EZ-K. If this is the case then it is very likely that you have need 1/2" lug nuts like part # CE11051. Should you have a older 7,000 lb axle with a 5 bolt pattern then you likely have something like the hub and drum assembly # 8-174-5UC3 which uses 9/16" bolts so you'd need a lug nut like part # 6-53 for...

  • Proper Centering of New Trailer Wheel Whose Pilot Hole is Larger Than Original Wheels
You were given some correct information. The new trailer wheels you purchased that have a larger pilot hole will still be compatible with your hubs in terms of being properly centered. The key is indeed the coned lug bolts, such as # RG02-020. These will automatically center the wheel on the hub as they are tightened, as will coned lug nuts such as # CE11051. The larger pilot hole does not matter for alignment. However, since your wheel has a larger pilot hole diameter this means that...

  • Typical Trailer Lug Nut Diameter and Thread Pitch
Trailer wheel lug nuts that are 1/2-inch inside diameter typically have a 20-TPI thread pitch (20 threads per inch). Most lug nuts also use a 60-degree-coned profile like # CE11051, but a 90-degree like # STN569 is also available for 9/16-inch studs. All lug nuts we offer are displayed on the linked page. I also linked our main page for all wheel accessory items.

  • Trouble Removing Lug Nuts on the Kenda Karrier S-Trail w/ 12" Aluminum Wheel # AM31215
Thank you for the picture! The problem you are running into has more to do with the lug nuts you are using than the tire wrenches like part # PTW1 that you referenced. Since the Kenda Karrier S-Trail # AM31215 is a little more recessed where the lug nuts sit you need to swap out your shorter lug nuts, like part # CE11051, and replace them with taller lug nuts like part # 12CLN. Changing out the lug nuts to taller ones will allow you to easily fit a lug wrench over the lug nuts so you can...

If you are looking for replacements that are better than that though, I recommend the Redline Chrome Trailer Wheel Lug Nut - 1/2" (Each) # 12CLN.
