Good instructions and videos. For my first ever hitch install I was super slow. My 7 year old 2018 RAV4 Adventure had some very stubborn bolts to remove underneath when prepping. Thanks to my neighbor for some extra tools I didn’t have - a long breaker bar to loosen two bolts from an exhaust bracket and a couple of driver side placeholder OEM bolts on the frame. Being an amateur, it didn’t appear I needed to trim away tas much of he center of the lower bumper material per the instructions. Rookie mistake. That caused some extra/harder work later, but I got it done. I had no wheel ramps, jack or lift and first attempted to lift and attach the hitch solo. By then my 67 year old body was tired and a bit frustrated when I couldn’t get the right angle to line up the first bolt hole. My wife convinced me to stop and I agreed. I took it to a local shop and made an appointment for the next day. With the SUV raised on a lift and two people lifting and aligning, they made short work of attaching the frame bolts and torquing down. $35 well spent. Back at home I did the trimming of the two under body panels and the additional extra inch from center of the lower bumper. This hitch hides up behind the real bumper panel and from the rear only the 2” receiver is visible. It took this old guy a while to get it all done but it looks good.
The fit is perfect and I like the way it is hidden behind the rear bumper!

Very good quality and good fit. Instructions were good, particularly the video. The Hitch is quite heavy and with the car on the floor, it took 2 old guys and a floor jack.
This is a solid hitch, and overall I'm happy with it. Installation took two hours, but we were taking our time and checking every step against the installation video because this was the first hitch install for both of us.
Pros:
* Great appearance because the actual hitch is hidden; only the receiver tube shows.
* No loss of ground clearance.
* Installation video was extremely helpful: no need to take hitch to a shop for install.
Cons:
* Had to cut pieces out of two under-body panels. This was not a surprise, because it was in the video, but still I hate cutting pieces out of my car.
* Safety chain loop interferes slightly with using wrench to secure the bike rack.
* Template mentioned in the video was not included with the instructions, but they did give the dimensions so we made our own template.
Good fit on the Toyota Rav4. Took a bit of creative trimming of molding to get it into correct position and it works great.

Install instructions excellent! Since I was installing on 4 year old car in the North East US it took a little longer. My vehicle was missing the passenger side frame rail cover and the frame mounting holes were crud. I had to use a 12mm-1.25 thread tap with an extension to clean them. Luckily I was able save the threads so bolts torqued to specs. If not my next step would have been to drill and tap the car frame mounting holes to SAE 1/2 inch 20 thread. Since this size is just a bit larger two new SAE 1/2-20 grade 8 bolts would have done the trick. Hopefully this helps anyone with issues as I did. I love the fact that the hitch cross tubing is not visible. Nothing worse than a rusty visible hitch that is inevitable in my climate. EXCELLENT PRODUCT!

2018 Toyota RAV4 - Super fast shipping , arrived in perfect condition. Installation was fairly easy but an extra set of hands to lift is ideal. Trimming the underbody plastic covers to fit around the hitch took a bit of time. Overall, it looks factory, great quality, highly recommended!

Nice hitch reciever! Installation was fairly smooth. One of the outer flanges that the bolts go through was bent slightly inward, probably from UPS mishandling. Other than that, it’s a very nice hitch. Recommended!
The hitch is great and I like the fact that it’s hidden. The finish is holding up it still looks new.

Everything fit as designed.
I haven't installed the hitch yet. I love the way etrailer.com helps you find the right hitch. Alexis was very helpful. they didn't have a wiring harness because of covid 19 hard to get items, but told me if I couldn't find one call her back. I found one at U Haul so everything worked out fine. Thanks for your company going the extra mile for the customer.

no problems with the hitch so far. great fit and heavy duty. should last as long as I have the car.
I owned the Curt hitch that was not tucked behind the bumper which resulted in me scraping on steep curbs. I bought this to give my back end more clearance and it worked. I have at least 3 inches more height in the rear.
Quality wise, the two mounting brackets weren’t perfectly parallel, leading to difficulty getting the mounting holes to align. This is a quality issue on Curt’s end. Fortunately I got it mounted but one hole is still unable to align, I only have 4 bolts on vs 5.

It sounds like that the side brackets were knocked out of alignment which is why the bolt holes are not lining up. This can happen while in transit to our facility or to you. We do have a great FAQ that provides ways to move the brackets back into alignment so the hitch can be installed.

Looks great, incredibly stable quite durable and has great powder coating on it. Installation video was as clear as it could be on my particular vehicle. Already used it to pull a small trailer a few hundred miles without any issues at all.
Buyer beware! Does this hitch technically fit a Toyota RAV4? Yes. Does the correct installation of the hitch prevent the power lift gate from working and prevent total use of the lift gate at all? Also yes. I bought this hitch, installed myself, brought to a local place to check, and even though it lined up with the underside of my car it pushed up from under the latch for the lift gate and caused all sorts of issues. I contacted etrailer and even though I could not use it, they offered me no sort of refund and actually told me id be better off trying to scrap it. Several hundred dollars down the drain for an unusuable hitch, and a very disappointing outcome.
This is the second Curt hitch receiver I have installed on a vehicle. Great products that go in easily as a DIY project and look good when mounted.

Great hitch. Most definitely a two man job or hire your local mechanic to put it on for ya. Slight modification on original under body plastic parts. The most difficult part it’s bolt tightening without a 1/2 in. impact or a long handled torque wrench. That being said, I wish I would of just had a shop put it on for me. Hitch does not hang down like most aftermarket hitch’s I see. Hope that helps.
Up until now I have order 3 towing hitches & a bicycle rack for 4 bikes. I am very happy & satisfied with the way it was handled when it was ordered. Delivery was fast & installation was flawless, items made to fit!

This receiver installed very easily. I would warn that it will require two people to manage the install. That's where a grandson and his friend come in handy. Instructions were very clear with lots of pictures.
I bought this for my Toyota Rav 4. I also purchased a Scooter/wheelchair carrier and it also fit perfectly. It will lay horizontally or vertically. I am disabled and got tired of trying to lift my scooter into the trunck. The carrier had a 60 inch fold up ramp which makes very easy to "walk-up" the scooter into the carrier.

Excellent! I’m handicapped. I needed a lift on my RAV4 for my power scooter to give me freedom to get out and about! Works perfectly! I’m so Happy!
This does not fit on a 2018 RAV4. Specifically there is module on the passenger side that interferes with the installation. I attempted to install over it however this ended up preventing the lift gate from operating properly.

I have gotten in contact with the manufacturer and they have looked into this and have had no other reports of this issue for the 2018 Toyota RAV4. They have stated that they do have a warning in the instructions, "Hands Free, Foot-activated power liftgate may only work in limited areas when the hitch is installed".
Perfect EXCEPT do NOT tighten bolts to 86 lbs . The bolts can handle but the nuts ca not. I had to have the nuts drilled and tapped to 22 mm and tightened everything to 65 lbs.
We used two torque wrenches that were recently calibrated.
Other than that problem the product would be 5 stars.
I am pleased with the product and etrailer.
Box was damaged upon deliver, with the hitch sticking out of the box. A bolt was missing as well. Customer service was very helpful and delivered a new bolt.
The video definitely made the installation look easier than it actually was and it left out a step in getting the hitch on under the plastic trim.
