Will A Trailer Hitch Interfere With The Hands-Free Lift Gate On A 2017 Toyota Rav4 Platinum

Question:
Will the hands free lift gate still operate with a 2 inch trailer hitch installed on a 2017 Platinum Rav 4?

Expert Reply:
While installing a trailer hitch can cause some interference of the hands-free liftgate function for your 2017 Platinum Toyota RAV4, it can definitely still work. The hitch mounting location can mean that only the centrally-positioned sensor will be affected. Those to the sides of the hitch tube usually function without issue.
The Curt hitch part # C13406 we have found does not interfere as much and will work fine if you kick with your feet to the sides of the hitch to engage the sensor.
.
Included is a video with more information on this hitch option. If you are looking to do some towing, add a bike rack, or cargo carrier to you Rav 4, I am happy to recommend solutions for your situation.
