Question:
Awesome, this is super helpful. Just to make sure, if I go with the hitch mounted option, does that mean I need some type of connector in between the car and the Hollywood Racks Trail Rider part # HR200Z? Thanks so much for your help!

The best trunk mounted bike rack that fits your 2014 Toyota RAV4 is the Yakima FullBack part # Y02634 as it's the easiest to install, has a larger mounting pad so it spreads out weight of bikes and rack on the vehicle, has locks for both the bikes and the rack, and also has cradle straps that are easier to use. I attached a picture of this rack on a similar 2019 Rav4 as well as an install video link as well.
If you were looking for a hitch mounted option you'd instead want the Hollywood Racks Trail Rider part # HR200Z as it's the easiest to load style (platform instead of hanging), is priced great and much more stable than other options in it's price range.
