Thoroughly Tested for Safety

This hub-and-drum assembly meets the requirements for certification by the Canadian Standards Association (CSA). The CSA creates standards, which when complied with ensure a safe and quality product. This assembly underwent extensive testing to measure stopping distances when braking. This assembly has also been tested by QAI for braking performance in a complete automotive setup and under real-world conditions to provide the most realistic scenario for the everyday driver.

Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: 8 on 6-1/2 means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: 5 on 4-1/2 means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern - Side

Measuring the distance (D) from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

  • Replacement Brakes And Hubs/Drums For 5,200lb Kelsey Hayes Co Axles
The Dexter Electric Trailer Brakes - 12" - Left/Right Hand - 6K AL-KO/Hayes Axles # 23-105-106-09 would likely be a fit for your Kelsey Hayes Co 5,200lb axles but the hub-drums might be a challenge to find. Hayes liked to use their own proprietary sizes for bearings so it's harder to find replacements now that they've gone out of business. To determine if there is a fit you'll need to measure the spindle at points B, C, and D on the diagram below to get the inner diameter for the bearings....

  • Dexter Axle Hub Conversion for 14.5 Inch or 15 Inch Wheels on Equipment Trailer
Thanks for the information on your trailer. For your axle with brakes I recommend the Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly - 5,200-lb and 6,000-lb E-Z Lube Axles - 12" - 6 on 5-1/2 # AKHD-655-6-EZ-K if you have the spindles with the integrated grease zerk. If you have standard spindles, I recommend # AKHD-655-6-K which have the standard grease cap instead. These assemblies will fit perfectly with your axles based on the bearing and seal information you gave as well as 14.5 inch wheels. Then...

  • Replacement Brake Assemblies for AL-KO T-44 Axles
I have a solution for you, but the AL-KO T-44 axle has been discontinued since Dexter bought them out and there are no longer parts available for them, so you would need to completely replace the axles in order to replace the brakes. To choose the correct replacement axle you will need to know the hub face to hub face measurement and spring seat center to spring seat center measurements of your current axle; you'll also want to try to match your existing bolt pattern with the hubs in...

  • Parts Needed to Convert Military Trailer M105A2 to Electric Brakes
We've had this question before and we were able to determine that your M105A2 either uses a 5200 lb or 6000 lb axle so for hub drums you most likely will need the part # AKHD-655-6-K. This hub and drum comes with inner bearing part # 25580 and outer bearing part # 15123. It fits a 12 inch diameter brake assembly. You do want to check your existing bearings for their bearing numbers. There should be bearing numbers stamped on the side. If there is not numbers stamped on the side you can...

  • How to Convert Oil Bath Trailer Hubs to Grease Hubs
Actually all you really have to do is remove the oil from the hub and then pack the hubs with grease and then get the correct bearing buddy to match the threaded hub bore. You will need to measure the inner diameter of where the old grease cap installed on your hub to pick out the correct bearing buddy. If that measurement is 1.98 then you would wan the # BB1980T-SS, if it's 2.080 inches and has 12 threads per inch then you'd need part # BB2080T-SS, if it's 2.44 inches you'd want the part...

I can help you get the correct replacement, but I need some information from you to ensure we get you the correct hub. If you remove a hub and can give me the bearing number on the face of the inner and the outer bearing as well as the number on the seal, then I can get you the correct fit. The bearing numbers are etched into the face of each bearing as well as the metal ring on the seal. If you don't have these, then you will need to use a digital caliper like # PTW80157 to measure...

  • How To Determine Replacement Hubs And Brakes For Boat Trailer
Unfortunately, just the outer bearing is not quite enough to figure out what you need for replacement hubs and bearings. For a trailer with that much weight it sounds like you have a tandem trailer. I recommend replacing the bearings and seals on all of the wheels at the same time, even if you are only replacing the brakes on one axle. If you remove the inner and outer bearing and can find the numbers, that will really help. Or you can use digital calipers like part # PTW80157 and take...

Hey Chuck, I sure can and thanks for the information! They are sold individually. These hubs fit spindles with inner bearing item # 25580 and outer bearing item # 15123. It wouldn't hurt to confirm the part numbers off of the bearings in your current hubs. 6,000 lbs axles...

For that I recommend the etrailer Rust-Resistant Electric Trailer Brakes # AKEBRK-7-D. This comes with a pair of Dacromet coasted electric brake assemblies. As far as the hubs, it is not quite so cut and dry. The 5,200 lb axles generally use a # 25580 inner bearing and a # 15123 outer bearing. Given that your axle is almost 20 years old, it may not...

Starting with the axle for your M105 Military Trailer that you are doing an overland conversion on I recommend going with the Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension System - 2" Lift Spindle w/ Brake Flange - 5,200 lbs # TASR5200S05 or the 4" lift version # TASR5200S03. • Recommended Grease Conversion for Dexter 12k Oil Bath Axles
The Dexter 12K oil bath axles can be changed over to grease without any issues. The oil does keep the bearings lubricated well, but there is a much higher risk of leaking which leads to a much higher risk of failure. I'd personally move to grease # L11390 and make sure it is packed well into the bearings using # PTW1218. This will allow you to use your same bearings and oil cap, but you will need to replace the seal once removed to pack the inner bearing. For that you can use # 10-56.
