Question:
Good evening. Are you able to provide me a list of parts to add electric drum brakes to my single axle utility trailer? The axle is 6000 lb torsion 6 - 5.5 B.C. The axle has 5 bolt flange. I believe I need the brake assembly, drum, breakaway kit, and wiring for a 7 pin connector. My truck has a brake controller

Hey Chuck, I sure can and thanks for the information!
For replacement hubs, you'll need the Easy Grease Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly item # AKHD-655-6-EZ-K if you have EZ lube axles or item # AKHD-655-6-K if you have standard axles without a grease zerk behind the dust cap. They are sold individually. These hubs fit spindles with inner bearing item # 25580 and outer bearing item # 15123. It wouldn't hurt to confirm the part numbers off of the bearings in your current hubs. 6,000 lbs axles are pretty uniform though.
For replacement brake assemblies, I recommend the etrailer Electric Trailer Brakes item # AKEBRK-7-SA. These are self-adjusting brakes that do not require you to manually tune them. They work with a 5 bolt mounting flange and are sold in pairs. You'll only need one set per axle.
To add a 7-way connector you'll want item # H20044. I highly recommend using the junction box item # 38656 to make all the connections. This junction box puts all your wiring in a secure location. If you do not have wiring in place, you'll also have to run item # 10-1-1 wire from the junction box to each electric brake assembly using heat shrink butt connectors item # DW05745-5 for a weather tight connection. The wire is sold by the foot.
The Bright Way Trailer Breakaway Kit item # 3802346 will round out your shopping list. This kit includes the breakaway cable assembly, LED battery, charging kit, and a convenient tester so you can check your battery.
What kind of braking system does your trailer currently have? You can add this information and any other questions you have where it says Reply to Jerred H and I'll be happy to answer them.
