Instead of a full axle, could I use axle-less suspension?

I have a solution for you, but the AL-KO T-44 axle has been discontinued since Dexter bought them out and there are no longer parts available for them, so you would need to completely replace the axles in order to replace the brakes.

To choose the correct replacement axle you will need to know the hub face to hub face measurement and spring seat center to spring seat center measurements of your current axle; you'll also want to try to match your existing bolt pattern with the hubs in order to keep using the same wheels. For example, something like the Dexter Trailer Axle w/ Electric Brakes - E-Z Lube - 6 on 5-1/2 Bolt Pattern-5,200 lbs # 6340624-EB has a 95" hub face to hub face measurement and 80" from spring center to spring center.

If you can provide me with some measurements I'm happy to let you know what we have available that would work for your 2013 Keystone Outback.

Yes. You could use the Timbren Axle-less Suspension System # TASR5200S05 to replace each of the axles (you would need two pairs of these); these will be a bit higher capacity than the 4400-lbs axles you had, but I should note that they won't increase the GVWR of the actual trailer itself. I'll also note that the Timbren Axle-Less suspension system may require additional support on your trailer. If your trailer does not have a crossmember above the spot where you want to install the Timbren system, you may need to reinforce the frame. You can accomplish this three ways. First, you can retrofit the trailer with a crossmember. Second, you can build out the trailer frame. Third, you can use 2" x 3" steel tubing to connect the 2 Timbren suspensions together using the built-in hole on each unit. From there, you'll want to use the Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly - 5,200-lb and 6,000-lb Axles - 12" - 6 on 5-1/2 - Pre-Greased # AKHD-655-6-K for the hub and drum assemblies and the self adjusting electric trailer brakes # AKEBRK-7-SA to complete the axles. You will also need the brake mounting hardware # BKRH12 to mount the brakes. These parts would allow you to replace your old AL-Ko axle and not have to worry about finding parts that fit going forward.
