Video Transcript for Feature Breakdown: Trailer License Plate Mount Bracket, Heavy Duty Zinc Steel

Today we're going to show you Optronics Trailer License Plate Mount Bracket, part number LP15SB. First off, with our bracket this is an all-metal construction. In its typical application, this license bracket is designed to sit behind the bracket that holds your taillight in place. In this case, we're on the driver's side or left-hand side. Typically they will line up with the studs on the lights. You can mount this either way you'd like, but typically you want this underneath so it sticks underneath the light on the bottom for the license plate. Let's go ahead and install it. Pretty simply.

Let's go ahead and remove these two nuts. Most of the time it's going to be a 7/16. In certain situations, it won't fit like this, so you can flip it around and install it that way as well. Of course, we realize that not as much light will go onto your license plate, but it will still work just fine. Then you can go ahead and install your license plate; 1/4" hardware will work just fine for that.

This hardware does not come with it as well. Since it is recessed inaudible 00:01:14 back, let's go ahead and turn off the lights and try it out and see how the trailer light illuminates the license plate. Even though it's recessed, it's still doing its job. That will finish it for a Optronics Trailer License Plate Mount Bracket, part number LP15SB. .

Nice upgrade from original equipment

by:

Standard bracket. Fits as advertised. Price was great!

by:

Thanks for the prompt service and product is what I needed.

by:

Much better than old the plastic Tag Mount bracket.

by:

Made of heavy gauge material, zinc coating. Way better than the stock plastic OEM.

by:

Can't beat the price, value, and quick convenient delivery!!!

by:

Exactly what I wanted. What is more amazing was how quick the package arrived. Etrailer is a good retailer to deal with.

by:

I've restored my 12 ft double axle trailer after it was damage in a fire. The trailer was restored and the finishing touches were supplies by e trailer. Fast and prompt delivery, Thx so mix.

by:

Received within a couple days of placing order, good communication from etrailer.com, good design, great price, expect it to last much longer than plastic.

by:

I am completely confident that I'm not being taken advantage of. This business is awesome. I haven't yet asked for help but I would bet they would have the answer your looking for. Love the videos and grateful that you made them for everyone. If any requests, make a video on how to replace a spindle... Thanks

by:

I was glad to find a solid zinc license plate holder for my trailer. I was very satisfied with the order and the product.

by:

the zinc plated trailer license plate bracket is a 100% improvement over the flimsy plastic one that came with the trailer .I needed to make some adjustments to fit the trailer light but everything else was what I wanted

by:

Great replacement for the cheap OEM plate holders. Ended up working out better than I thought it would. Bolts directly where the plastic one did on a 5 x 8 Carry-On trailer. Painted it black to match the trailer. Looks like it came that way from factory.

by:

The product I ordered is exactly as described, and meets my needs perfectly. The price is quite reasonable. I had looked for several months at local retail outlets to find a sturdy steel bracket but all I could find were the plastic variety. Plastic does not hold up well when exposed to constant rushing air (as in 65 mph on the Interstate). I am very happy to find a license plate bracket that will do the job without failure!

by:

This is one of the best license plate brackets I have found for boat trailers. The metal helps keep lights grounded and is worlds above plastic in terms of strength.

by:

I have been looking for this product for awhile to replace two flimsy plastic license plate brackets on trailers we own. In fact I recently lost a license plate due to a plastic one that broke on my utility trailer. I am amazed at the high quality and very low cost of this product. Placing the order on-line was super easy and I couldn't have asked for more reasonable shipping cost. It arrived much faster than I would have suspected. I would definitely do this again and appreciate your service. Etrailer is "top-notch" in my book!

by:

I have never went wrong with etrailer. This product was no different. Product is well built and sturdy. Fast shipping and would deninatley recommend it if you're looking for a trailer tag bracket.

by:

Received very promptly for a reasonable shipping fee.
Item was as shown and described and seems to be sturdy with a durable finish. Installs with the plate offset facing front or rear. Will see how it holds up but sure its %500 better than the plastic crap that came on the trailer.

by:

Anyone that first buys a trailer knows that plastic license plate holder is flimsy. And sometimes you can lose your license plate. This is steel sturdy and well made

by:

Are you kidding? This metal license plate mount is rock solid and under $2. The holes are set up perfectly to fit the mounting bolts on my driver side trailer light and the position of the license plate when mounted allows it to be lit by the clear lens on the bottom of the trailer light when the running lights are on. Also, the bracket allows the mounted license plate (and frame) to just clear the rail of the flat bed trailer itself. Yeah, it's a perfect fit. Thanks, trailer!!

by:

Great company! Exactly what I needed! Thank You

by:

I think you will find these photos show a unique installation of your metal trailer license plate holder.
My Yamaha golf cart is street legal which requires a license plate. You will see in close up photo that the holder is used up side down for a custom fit.
Couldn't be happier. The plastic holder was not stiff enough so your holder is perfect.

by:

Great well made product just as advertised. No more lost license plates due to cheap plastic brackets. This metal bracket looks like it's going to last a a life time!

by:

This part was perfect for my liscense plate for my trailer . Thanks

by:

Old bracket was plastic and easily broke off. I Ordered a metal one from etrailer at a great price. I painted mine with some extra plasti dip I had laying around and riveted it where the old one was and it's better than new!

  • Recommended Hitch Adapter To Use With Thule Bike Carrier And Provide Clearance For Taillights
Using any adapters in the trailer hitch on your Rogue will reduce the hitch capacity by 50 percent. Since you are using your hitch for a bike carrier you may still be within the weight capacity of your hitch. If you have a 2-inch receiver opening I recommend an adapter like part # RM-076. This adapter offers a 6-inch rise or drop and may give you the needed clearance for your tail lights. We do not have an adapter with a rise or drop like this for a 1-1/4 inch receiver opening.

  • License Plate Bracket Options For Tow Dolly
I recommend using a license plate holder like part # LP15SB. You would need to find a suitable place to mount the bracket and probably drill through the fender or the frame to install this bracket. This bracket does not come with mounting hardware. We do have license plate brackets that are designed to be used with tail lights. I have attached a link to our product page for the brackets we offer. You may find one that will work with the tail lights on your dolly.

  • Distance Between Taillight Mounting Hole Dimensions on CE Smith Trailer License Plate Bracket
The measurement between the tail light mounting holes of the CE Smith Trailer License Plate Bracket # CE26053A is really 1-1/2 inches, that is correct. There is a good option for you, however with the Optronics License Plate Mounting Bracket # LP15SB which will work with studs that are 2 inches apart, which you can see in the accompanying photo. I've added a link to a video review and install of this bracket for you to take a look at as well.

  • Recommendation for a License Plate Bracket for a Small Cargo Trailer
I believe I have just the right license plate bracket for you. Take a look at the Trailer License Plate Mount Bracket, # LP15SB. It is just a little over 8 inches long at 8-7/16 inches. It is 4 inches tall. The center to center distance between the center slotted holes is 2-1/4 inches but can be 2-3/4 inches apart at the outside edges. The top most set of holes are 2 inches apart on center. I have included a picture showing the dimensions for you.

We may not have the exact same license plate bracket as the one you lost on your Jayco trailer. But we do have quite a few that you could likely use. Bracket # LP15SB is an excellent choice since it is metal and would be more durable and would not cause ground problems (if the tail light grounds through the mounting studs). It mounts on holes that are 2 inches apart on center. If you happen to need a hole spacing that is 1-3/4 inches apart then you could use # LP20SB. I have included...

  • How to Mount Bike Carrier Without Obstructing Rear License Plate from View
In many states if your rear license plate is obstructed from view by a bike rack, luggage rack or a similar device, a vehicle owner has the option to obtain a temporary license plate. This third license plate is a paper document that is placed on the interior of the vehicle's rear window in a manner clearly visible from the outside of the vehicle, but doesn't obstruct the driver's view out of the rear window. Another option is to use the bike rack you want to use and move the plate to...

That really depends on where the license plate is located. Since you were looking at the Surco bike rack, # SP501BR, I assume you have a van or RV that has a ladder with the license plate in close proximity. What I recommend is to use the bike rack you want to use (trailers and RVs can only be equipped with certain racks, see link) and relocate the license plate to an area of the vehicle, trailer, or RV that is more visible.
