Dial in your RV door parts with gas shocks that steady your entry or screen door. For most entry doors, 10-20 lbs is typical—going heavier can help in wind but takes more effort to close, so match the force and length to your original. Mount with brackets on the top or bottom of the door or frame to control how far the door opens.
Mount to the door and frame with brackets and test locations before drilling. Moving the bracket closer to the hinge can allow more opening. Place mounts where they clear the screen door, threshold, or outside top of the door. Be careful with retaining clips so they don't get lost. If the new ends are too bulky, swap to your old threaded ends.
Yes, if the length and force match what you have. Bed platforms often need stronger force than a light door. If the bed feels heavy or won't stay up, increase the force rating. If you added a mattress topper and lifting got harder, step up in force to help lift and hold the platform. If it's too weak you may need a temporary prop.
Start with 10-20 lbs for a typical RV entry door. If you're in a windy area or want the door to resist blowing open/closed, go heavier. If the shock is too strong the door can be hard to close, especially for kids. If it's too light the door may not stay put. Match the force to how you want the door to behave.
Match the force rating and the extended/compressed lengths of your current shock. Measure from the center of one ball socket to the center of the other. If the shock has no markings, choose a length that fits your mounts and start in the 10-20 lb range for entry doors. Check clearance so the body and ends don't hit the door sweep.
