  • Lippert Power Tongue Jack Won't Work Plugged Into 2020 Ford Ford F-350
I do have an option for you but there's no way you can switch pins inside the trailer connector for this to work. The battery charge line circuit or twelve volt power within the trailer connector on the vehicle side is only active while moving on most newer Ford trucks. This is by design and has been coined "Ford Smart Tow". It's done to conserve power of the vehicles battery so it's not just charging the trailer battery at all times even when not needed. I understand this frustrates a...

  • No Power to Trailer Interior Light with 2019 Ford F-250
The Ford Smart Tow System on the 2019 Ford F-250 won't send power to the battery charge line circuit until the vehicle is in motion and gear shifting. The battery charge line circuit is what is powering the interior lights on the trailer. Therefore, you won't be able to use the lights without installing an on-board battery on the trailer or bypassing it. There isn't anything wrong with the truck, that's just how the system is designed. I am not aware of any way to change the setting for...

  • Ford Super Duty Trailer Connector Wont Power On In-Bed Fuel Transfer Pump
I do have an option for you but it's probably not what you'd had hoped for. The issue you'll run into trying to use the trailer connector as a power source for your transfer tank pump is that the battery charge line circuit within the trailer connector that you want to use for power is only active while moving on most newer Ford trucks. This is by design and has been coined the "Ford Smart Tow". Therefore, you won't be able to utilize this with the transfer pump in the way you want. If...

  • What Gauge Wiring do You Recommend for the Progressive Dynamics # PD9160ALV?
I went ahead and reached out to my tech at Progressive Dynamics, and he confirmed that a 4-gauge works best on most applications with the Intelli-Power Converter # PD9160ALV. However, if you have a longer route (such as 25-30 feet), 10 gauge wire like the # DW02508-1 works best. We unfortunately do not carry any 4-gauge wiring solution.

In order to add a trailer brake controller like the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Trailer Brake Controller part # 90885 to a 2020 Coachmen Freelander Motorhome without trailer wiring you'll have to add a 4-way like the Curt Powered Tail Light Converter Kit part # C56190KIT. This will then need to be converted to a 7-way like the 4 to 7-Way with 4-Way Adapter part # ETBC7. These connectors are designed for passenger vehicles you will need extra wire which is sold by the foot, part # 10-2-1 for the...

  • Parts Needed To Use Curt Echo Trailer Brake Controller On a 2020 Acura MDX Without a Tow Package
I do see the Receiver # C13146 and 4-Way # 118628 you got from us for your 2020 Acura MDX. Depending on if you got a 7-way like our Kit # ETBC7 which includes the wiring needed for a charge line or just an Adapter # 37185 will decide what all you need to use the Curt Echo # C51180. If you only have the Adapter # 37185 you are going to need enough 10 Gauge Wire # DW02508-1(sold by foot) to run from the battery to the 7-way, Circuit Breaker # 9510, two Ring Terminals # DW05740-1 for connecting...

In regards to the Hydrastar Electric Over Hydraulic Actuator for Disc Brakes part # HBA16, the manual states 12 gauge is required for the power leads so anything larger than this will work great as well. We offer 12 gauge by the foot as part # 12-1-1 as well as 10 gauge as part # DW02508-1. For a circuit breaker, I recommend the 40 Amp In-Line Circuit Breaker part # 9510.

The Tekonsha Primus IQ # TK90160 and Wiring Adapter # 3021-P are the correct parts for your 2011 Ram 1500 so if you have the factory 7-Way then the problem you're having tells me the wire sending power from the brake controller back to your 7-Way is damaged somewhere. To verify the Primus IQ is sending power you'll want to use a circuit tester and make sure there is power about 6" back on that blue wire when you use the manual override. If you don't see power then either the wiring harness...

The wiring on your 2019 Ford F-250 Super Duty is a little goofy and it's something that a LOT of people have complained about with the newer Ford pickups. To get power back to your trailer jack you'll have to close your driver's door, depress the brake, start your truck, hold your brake while the truck recognizes the trailer, then click "OK" to get through the notifications that pop up. We can definitely get you set up with a brake controller and all the needed parts for your 2014 Leprechaun on a Ford E350 chassis. Our fitguide can be a little confusing, but if you choose the year and make, the E-Series vans will show up under “Van”, if you want/need to search for other items. With that said, with your Leprechaun being pre-wired, it will make things a lot easier. However, this will typically mean two things, so I have options for both listed below. The Curt Trailer Connector Adapter # C57672 sounds similar to the connector that you added to your 2020 Honda Odyssey. The 4-way takes care of the light signals that the Echo needs to see. • No Power To Interior Lights on Horse Trailer
The interior lights on most trailers is either powered from an on-board auxiliary battery on the trailer or using the battery charge line circuit run through the trailer connector. In regards to troubleshooting, if you do have an on-board battery then check its state of charge and the wires running from the lights to the battery....

  • No 12V Power to 7-way connector on 2017 Ford F-250 Super Duty
I am happy to help you troubleshoot the 12v pin not getting power on the 7-way connector. On some Fords with factory brake controllers, the 12V pin does not show power unless you are testing it with a trailer connected. Please make sure it is a trailer with an on board trailer battery. The truck must sense the load of the battery to activate that circuit. If you have a trailer connected and the 12V pin is still not showing power, you may have a blown or missing fuse in the power distribution...

The Ford Smart Tow System on the 2020 Ford F-250 won't send power to the battery charge line circuit until the vehicle is in motion and gear shifting. I am not aware of any way to change the setting for this. Therefore, your only options to use the interior lights in the trailer would be to either install an on-board battery or direct wire a battery charge line circuit from the truck battery to the trailer connector using part # DW02508-1 and part # 9510.

  • How Many Sets of Electric Trailer Brakes For Tandem 3,500 lb Axles When Converting From Hydraulic
Excellent questions, and let's start with your query about having brakes on both axles. The answer is that you do indeed want to have brakes on both of your 3,500 lb tandem axles. The reason is because just one set of 3,500 lb brakes won't have the stopping power required for a trailer that weighs 5,000 or 6,000 lbs, and also just one set of brakes will also wear out very quickly as they'll be overworked for the load they are rated for. So for the best stopping power and safest way to...

  • How To Determine Compatibility of the Autowbrake Electric Brake Controller
The Autowbrake Electric Brake Controller part # 3430001 simply requires an active battery charge line circuit which is a wire run from the trailer connector to the battery to provide a small charge for the trailer battery while in tow. • Interior Lights on Trailer with No Battery Won't Work with Ford Truck
The issue you're experiencing is caused by the Ford Smart Tow System which controls the battery charge line circuit which is the twelve volts power supply from the vehicle battery to the trailer. It's usually feed to an on-board battery in the trailer but in your case they are likely just powered directly from the power supply. To the best of my knowledge, the battery charge line circuit only becomes active while the truck is in motion so there is really no other way to get around this...

This will ensure that you have enough power for the charge line circuit and Curt Echo # C51180. I recommend using 10 Gauge Wire # DW02508-1 as this will better protect the wire from over heating.
