Today we're going to be taking a look at the Brophy Backing Plate designed for use with the recessed 5,000 pound D-Ring tie down. This part number is BP05. As you can see the four bolts that come through our tie-down are going to run right through our backing plate, allowing us to put on a lock washer and a nut and really spreading out that holding force over a greater area. As you can imagine if we just had the four bolts coming through here we'd be limited in the amount of space that was actually holding our tie-down down. Once we have this incorporated it's going to spread that our, dissipate that energy and give us a good, strong tie-down connection point. This works great in an enclosed trailer which we are using today. Also just about anywhere else that you've got the room to put that backing plate behind your D-ring where you need a hold down connection point. Here's that part number RR05.

I could not find these anywhere locally. This will work well with the d-rings I'm mounting in the floor of my trailer. Ideally these could be welded to the frame for maximum security but through 3/4" flooring I don't expect any problems. Thanks for the fast service!
I had purchased the RR05 at a local retailer, but they did not have the backing plate, so I ordered from e-Trailer. In retrospect, I wish I had just ordered the RR05 kits from e-trailer. The ordering process is simple, great email comminication during order & shipping processing, and very fast delivery.
(I worked on my trailer in the garage during Huricane Irene, and completed installation of 5 of these D-Rings. )

Added 3 new tie downs on my 24’ car hauler. Plates worked great!!
Product appearance and workmanship met all expectations. All four (4) BP05 items were consistent in quality and dimensions. The BP05 provides reinforcement of load anchor points when an anchor can not be fastened to a frame-member of the trailer's chassis.

After a year of use, there has been no problems with the BP05. Not much hauling for car shows in the past year, but I did head to the Rocky Mountains to pick up another antique car, a 5,000 lb. land yacht. An emergency stop on the interstate highway while descending the mountains put the load anchors and BP05s to the test. All is well.
The backing plates are exactly what I need and I’m extremely happy with your product and quick shipping and delivery! Thanks!

While I had to wait for supply delay issues, they are worth it. My new ATC trailer came with 4 tie-downs and backing plates exactly like these. I have used the trailer with a car and look forward to adding these 8 additional tie-downs for motorcycles. They are of great quality and function properly.
I went to a local store and bought four tie down anchors to put in my enclosed trailer. I also bought all the hardware I thought I would need to install them. Upon returning home, I went on line to learn the proper way to install them. That's when I found out that I needed a backing plate which was not offered to me at the local store. I ordered a set of four from etrailer.com. I received them in the expected time and they are now installed and I am very pleased with the product. The bolts I bought were a little bit long and because of the thickness of the flooring I had to cut all the way thru. I used bathroom tub and tile caulk to seal the hole and wood underneath and I will paint it after the caulk cures. You can buy the entire kit from etrailer.com which is what I should have done. I guess you learn from your mistakes.

Etrailer.com is an easy company to do business with. I found their product pricing and shipping costs to be fair. Shipping and communication was good. I would use etrailer.com again.
I purchased the D-ring anchor and didn't see the product containing the ring, back plate, and bolt/nut. I was unable to get the back plate with the mounting hardware so now I have to go to a hardware store and get the bolts/nuts to mount the anchor. Poor options.
My backing plates arrived on time. Although I did not buy the tie downs from etrailer the backing plates fit perfectly. I would recommend etrailer. I am very satisfied with this purchase thank you.
Would not buy tie down rings with out the backing plates
These plates are worth every penny. They were installed on a trailer that didn't have support plates on the tiedown.
Recently ordered D rings and backing plates for my enclosed trailer. A quality product and quick shipping, but most impressive was the customer service. I would rate the items ordered as 5 stars. However, the etrailer customer service is 10 stars.
