Question:
So I have 2019 Ford F250, there is a lot conversation about this topic. But I want to know how it works and how to get power to trailer to operate jack without battery power in case battery is dead. My 2005 did it automatically when plug was connected, my buddies 2016 does it. The trailer, without the battery will not operate jack even if hook up to 120v. Cant figure this out, they changed something ...I think Im going to run a line from Uplifter Switch in cab to the rear of truck. Im not even sure its sending power to charge battery while traveling. Please help,

The wiring on your 2019 Ford F-250 Super Duty is a little goofy and it's something that a LOT of people have complained about with the newer Ford pickups. To get power back to your trailer jack you'll have to close your driver's door, depress the brake, start your truck, hold your brake while the truck recognizes the trailer, then click "OK" to get through the notifications that pop up. If you were to route 12V wiring from your battery to he Upfitter Switch then back to the 12V pin on your 7-Way you'll be able to bypass this obnoxious series of events just to power your trailer jack. You'll need 10 Gauge Wire # DW02508-1 and Heat Shrink Butt Connectors # DW05745-5 to route your wiring.
I've only seen trailer jacks operate off of 12V power so unless your trailer has a battery, you'll have to be hooked up to the truck to power the jack. If your trailer does have a battery and you hooked it up to 120V power then it sounds like you have a dead battery and you would need to wait for a set amount of time for a 120V charger to recharge the battery. You'll be able to see how long that will take in the user's manual for your charger.
