An example of sag on a vehicle's rear axle under a heavy load

Whether you're hauling heavy loads in your bed or cargo area or you're towing a trailer, you will often see the rear of your vehicle sag while the front end rises. In these cases, the rear axle is handling not only the weight of the cargo, but also more of the vehicle's weight. Because less weight is on the front axle, the front tires are making less contact with the road. Overall handling - traction, steering, and braking - is negatively affected. But the resistance from Timbren's Suspension Enhancement System works with your factory suspension to keep your vehicle level and improve your driving experience.

Diagram of the Timbren spring installed

The Timbren system comes with custom-fit brackets that are bolted onto each frame rail above the rear axle. Hollow rubber springs are bolted to the bottom of the bracket and hang down to where the bottom of the spring sits, 1" above the axle. The inch of clearance allows the existing factory suspension to operate normally under light loads and standard terrain, ensuring the smooth, comfortable ride that you are used to.

Animation of a standard Timbren rubber spring

Timbren Suspension Enhancement Systems are designed to work progressively. When the hollow rubber springs are compressed, the convoluted design causes them to quickly collapse along the folds. Once the folds are compacted, the stacked barrel shape increases resistance, stiffening the suspension and keeping your vehicle level.

Timbren suspension system works to prevent body roll

Each hollow rubber spring works independently to support the driver's side or passenger's side of your vehicle. This is helpful when you swerve or make sharp turns. Each spring is activated when it is needed, so body roll is greatly reduced. The independent action also works well when you are hauling off-center loads.

An example of a trailers swaying

Because the vehicle handles better with the springs, less turbulence will be passed along to the trailer, and this helps to keep the trailer in line. Your driving comfort is further enhanced if the trailer does begin to sway (from a gust of wind or a passing semi), because the movement from the trailer is not transferred to your vehicle. This also works to make the sway subside more quickly.

An empty truck on a bumpy road without Timbren

Another great feature of the rubber construction is that the springs absorb most of the road shock, creating a smoother, more stable ride overall. Wear and tear on the factory suspension is also lessened because the rubber springs work to prevent bottoming out on rough roads.

Timbren Suspension Enhancement Compared to the Competition

Timbren's Suspension Enhancement Systems are much easier to install than air springs - there are no air hoses to run, no compressors or gauges to hook up, and no manual adjustments to make. The rubber construction makes Timbren's springs more elastic than similar products constructed of microcellular urethane. And more elasticity allows for a more comfortable ride because the rubber has more travel.

  • How to Decrease Vehicle Sag and Improve Ride Quality on a 2014 Ram 2500
I have the perfect option that will give your 2014 Ram 2500 both comfort and support but the Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement System part # TDR2500D are prone to creating a stiff ride. I cannot guarantee whether or not you will experience this discomfort but if the springs are loaded then the chances of a stiff ride are high. For the best of both worlds (support/comfort), I recommend using a set of airbags like the Firestone Ride-Rite Air Helper Springs part # F2598. This airbag kit...

  • 2016 Ram Power Wagon Towing Capacity and Rear Helper Spring Recommendations
According to Ram the 2016 Power Wagon has a towing capacity of 9,800 pounds. The trailer you choose cannot weigh more than this when loaded and ready to tow. If it is a Laramie Power Wagon it is rated for a max of 12,450 pounds. And if it is a Tradesman Power Wagon it is rated for 12,650 pounds. For your 2016 Ram Power Wagon I recommend adding Timbren springs # TDR2500D which will fit 2- or 4-wheel drive models with or without overload springs. These springs will prevent the rear of the...

  • Will The Timbren Severe Service Kit TDRTT3500E Make Ride Rough When Unloaded
Hey John, thanks for getting in touch. The brackets that come with the Timbren Suspension Enhancement Kit # TDRTT3500E are custom fitted for the 2020 Ram 2500, and there is no shorter bracket we can offer for this kit. The # TDRTT3500E kit is a severe service kit. It is intended for vehicles that have a constant heavy load in the bed like a slide in camper or salt spreader. They will do great when under a load, but they are going to be very rough when unloaded. They are really not designed...

  • Recommended Suspension Enhancement for 2019 Ram 2500 Towing 5th Wheel
For your 2019 Ram 2500 I recommend the SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs - Rear Axle # SSR-312-54 over the Timbren # TDR2500D. The reason is the difference in the impact on your unloaded ride quality. The SumoSprings have a weight capacity of 2,800 lbs which is more than enough based on your pin weight. Compare these to the Timbren with a capacity of 8,600 lbs. The Timbren is going to be a lot stiffer and I don't think you'll be happy with them installed when you aren't towing. The...

  • Will The Timbren SES # TDR2500D Fit On A 2021 Ram 2500 Power Wagon
Hey Brit, Yes, the Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement System # TDR2500D would be a fit for your 2021 Ram 2500 Power Wagon. These jounce springs have a 8,600lb load leveling capacity so I do want to warn you that the ride will be pretty stiff when you are loaded down. Something a bit lower capacity-wise like the SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs # SSR-312-54 would still get the job done but wouldn't affect your unloaded ride quality as much.

  • Are Spacers Needed For Timbren Suspension Enhancement on 2022 Ram 2500 Power Wagon
If you're saying the space where the Timbren would install is 7" you wouldn't need a spacer. About an inch gap is what is recommended, and the Timbren # TDR2500D for your truck measures 5-3/4" in overall height. A 1" spacer is included which would make it 6-3/4". We do have the spacers though, the # TA25722-90P00 is the 1/2" and the # A25723-90AH00 is the 1". I would go ahead and measure to be sure. If it is 7" you could leave the spacer off or if you want them to engage sooner add a...

  • Recommended Helper Spring Option for Reducing Body Roll/Sway from In-Bed Camper on 2015 Ram 2500
What typically happens is that unless your slide-in camper is really heavy, it won't exert enough weight for the factory bump stops to engage the top overload springs enough to prevent side to side sway. The TorkLift # TLA7200 StableLoad suspension bump stops are specifically designed to engage the top overload springs for less sway and body roll. This kit is specified for Ram 2500s up through the 2013 model year. According to my contact at Timbren the correct kit for your 2500 Laramie is their new kit # TDR2500D. • Will Helper Spring/Suspension Enhancement Products Increase Payload Capacity of 2019 RAM 2500HD
None of the suspension enhancement/helper springs we offer will increase the stated payload or suspension capacity of your vehicle, but they will provide additional support for the existing suspension. The Timbren # TDR2500D Aeon springs will offer up to 8600 lbs of support, but they won't increase the vehicle capacity. The Timbrens are a nice product, but once the preload (gap between spring and axle when rear suspension isn't compressed) is taken up, the springs will be pretty stiff....

  • Will the Timbren Suspension Enhancement System Fit a 2015 Ram 2500 With Factory Air Suspension
Yes, the Timbren Suspension Enhancement System is one of the very few suspension enhancement options that you have that will work on a 2015 Ram 2500 with the factory air suspension. That said, I would actually recommend the part # TDR2500D for your truck instead of the part # TDRTT3500E as these are more designed for service trucks or those with an in-bed camper.

They will be slightly compressed with your Titan 50 Gallon Fuel Tank full, but that is to be expected as that is quite a bit of weight. • Suspension Enhancement that Fits 2020 Ram 2500 that Won't Interfere with Suspension Articulation
Since the air bag suspension enhancement kits like the # AL57289 that you referenced would limit your suspension articulation since they attach at the top and bottom of the bracket you'd be better off with a kit like the Timbren part # TDR2500D which only attaches on one side giving you the support you want without limiting suspension in anyway.

For similar springs that have more give thus providing a smoother ride over the alternative I recommend SumoSprings # SSR-312-47. With how the Firestone Air Helper Springs, like the # F2706, will attach to the frame, you would not be able to install a Timbren # TDR2500D as well. Both of these options will mount in the same place, unfortunately. That being said, the # TDR2500D may be better for your situation than the air bags. I do typically suggest air bags as they are fully adjustable, but they can be a little lacking when under constant heavy load and are not as good at handling sway problems. Another upgrade...
