Good morning Michael, yes they are only made to supplement existing factory suspension on your 2018 Ram 2500 4x4.

The Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement System # TDR2500D get added in place of your existing bump stops on your truck's real axle, adding some reinforcement and support so that your suspension doesn't sag and get worn out as quickly.

Are you towing full time, or is this just going to be towing the camper for some parts of the year, then go unloaded for the rest of the year? Reason I ask is the ones you were looking are extreme duty and will give you a harsh ride when unloaded, however, they are best for pulling a lot of weight full time.

If you aren't pulling full time and want a oem ride quality while still getting enough support to reduce sag when pulling the trailer, I'd opt for the SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs - Rear Axle # SSR-312-54. These are going to give you plenty of rear axle support, while allowing for normal ride quality when not pulling.

I switched from the heavy duty Timbrens to the SumoSprings and it is night and day difference. Let me know what you think! What else are you planning to tow?

Hello Thank you for replying. So its not full time travel, just a cross country to and from trip. I also purchased a load bearing anti-sway system for the travel trailer to assist with the load. Would i be over doing it with the SSR-312-54?

@MichaelC that's a good idea, I mean to mention that you might want to look into a weight distribution hitch or sway control of some sort. The two systems will work well together so you won't be over doing anything. In fact, I think that is the perfect setup for your situation.

I myself love the timbrens, had them on both my 2017 ram 1500 4x4, and now my 2020 ram 2500 4x4. I tow a 31ft toy hauler, with/without 4 wheelers in side, and the rzr on the rack in the bed of the truck. I gotta say best purchase hands down. With the anti sway control on the truck, the stablizer bars on camper, and the timbrens, it stabilizes ride and control of everything just perfectly.

@Steve That's awesome, sounds like the perfect setup for you! I definitely liked the Timbrens when I was towing, but they were a little harsh on my older Nissan Titan when unloaded and not towing haha.

Michael, I bought these for my 2016 Ram 2500. (Overall they are almost exactly the same. They were great. Didn’t affect unloaded drive, And greatly reduced the squat pulling a 30ft travel trailer to almost nothing. And a noticeably more comfortable ride
