Air Lift's LoadLifter 5000 was designed with an exact purpose: to provide full-time, first-class support to your 3/4- or 1-ton pickup, motor home, or commercial truck. With this kit, you get a safer ride and simultaneously protect your vehicle from the strain that comes with hauling massive loads.

Carrying heavy cargo in your truck bed or trailer puts tremendous stress on your vehicle. Your brakes erode faster, your tires wear unevenly, and handling suffers severely. When towing, you might also experience excessive sway, bottoming out, and even improper and unsafe headlight aim. Fortunately, there is a solution to these problems. By pairing your existing suspension with the LoadLifter 5000, you can seriously beef up your suspension, ensure equal load distribution, and give your vehicle the support it desperately needs. Air Lift's LoadLifter 5000 provides up to 5,000 pounds of load-leveling capacity and distributes the weight of your payload to all four wheels. As a result, the stress on your OEM suspension is significantly reduced.

LoadLifter's air bags are adjustable from 5 to 100 psi for precise support, and they can be inflated independently of one another for front-to-rear and side-to-side leveling. They are made of high-quality, two-ply, fabric-reinforced rubber. Most air bags lose air at the ends, where the bag is enclosed with a steel cap, because the steel can rust and corrode over time, creating small holes. The endcaps on Air Lift air bags are fashioned from corrosion-proof Zytel nylon, a material that is both stronger and lighter than steel, ensuring that the air bags won't lose air. Also, LoadLifter 5000 comes with Air Lift's exclusive roll plates, which both protect your air springs and beef up the load capacity of the springs.

This system installs with the included brackets and hardware. Just mount the springs, inflate them, and ride. To inflate the LoadLifter springs, you just have to pump air in through the inflation valves. A line kit is included with the springs so that you can install the valves (one for each spring) in an easily accessible area - typically they are installed on the bumper. If you want to make the springs even easier to use, you can get a compressor and gauge system (sold separately).

Air Lift kits are designed to keep your vehicle at normal ride height. You can find the normal ride height of your vehicle by unloading it and measuring the distance between the bottom edge of your wheel well and the center of the hub. After you find and record this distance, you can regulate the amount of air that you put into your air springs to maintain normal ride height - even when you are hauling a heavy load. You will need to adjust the air pressure in your air bags according to the size of your load.

Along with a lifetime warranty that has no mileage restrictions, Air Lift offers a 60-day satisfaction guarantee. Just install and use LoadLifter 5000 springs for 60 days, and if you are not satisfied at the end of this time, you can remove them from your vehicle and return them for a full product refund. Now that's confidence.

Video Transcript for Air Lift LoadLifter 5000 Air Helper Springs Installation - 2015 Ram 2500

Today on our 2015 Ram 2500, we're going to take a look at and also show you how to install the Airlift Load Lifter 5000 Air Helper Springs. These are designed for the rear axle. The part number is AL57280. Here's what our airbags look like installed. As you can see they've completely replaced that factory jounce bumper. This is going to give us a lot more support back here on the rear end. It's also going to soften it up so when we do have a heavy load on, that jounce bumper isn't constantly hitting the axle.

Now the custom brackets on top and bottom are really easy to get installed. We don't have to worry about drilling the frame. We don't have to worry about making any modifications to the vehicle. These are custom-designed for this application, so they're going to bolt right up for us. They're also going to offer a black powder coat finish so they're going to be nice and durable. Now the door inflation valves are going to be really nice for the end-bed style loads.

Once they get offset one side to the other whether it's from just an off-center load of stuff you've put in there or a camper that might have a water tank on one side, we can adjust these individually to bring our truck back to level however we might need to. Now this is the typical situation when we see our customers requesting airbags. We've got a rear-end sagging down. Whether it's from a loaded up pickup truck bed, maybe a fifth-wheeler gooseneck, or even a ball-mounted or a bumper pool style of trailer. Now we've got our truck loaded down with about 200 gallons of water. That's going to be just under the payload capacity for it. We've got a lot of rear end sag, so when we get that sag, we're putting excess pressure on the rear suspension system here.

It's going to cause premature wear and fatigue. As a side effect of that sagging as well, the distance that your suspension can travel is going to be much reduced. That's going to cause a much bumpier and rougher ride. Now when the rear-end goes down, we're taking weight off of the front end. When we reduce the weight that's pressing down on our front tires here, we're going to lose some steering capabilities, some breaking capabilities, which ultimately leads to a worse handling situation or a truck that doesn't handle nearly as well. Also when we lift up on the front end, the steering angle changes, the suspension geometry changes, and that causes excess wear on the outer edge of our tire, which you can see pretty plainly on this tire.

The inside edge of the tires here still has some pretty decent grooves and some pretty decent tread. The outside edge here you can see is worn to where it's almost completely gone. As another side effect of that sagging rear end, your headlight angle's going to go up. That's going to decrease the effectiveness of your headlights. Now here you can really see what a difference air springs will make. We've got the exact same load in our truck that we had before and we've eliminated all of the squatting here in the rear end and all of the rise in the front. This is going to help to alleviate those common problems that we get when we're hauling a heavy load. Now in addition to the load-leveling capabilities, which are really helpful, the airbags, when our truck is unloaded and at the minimum pressure, from reading our customer reviews they have added benefits for just the general overall ride quality of the truck. We're going to have reduced body roll side to side. It's going to soften up the abruptness of the suspension and really leads to just better ride quality. Also something our customers have mentioned, and I think is a really good tip, is when we soften up the contact point back here when we're loaded up. That's going to transfer through to our trailer. So without air springs when we've got that really rough ride, everything inside of whatever we're hauling is feeling that as well. When we put the air springs in and we get that additional suspension inaudible 00:03:45 and we can soften that up, the things in our trailer are going to be kept safer. Now here's a look at our truck loaded down with and without air springs. You can really tell the difference as we start the slalom here. The body roll is going to drastically reduced and the feel inside the car is much smoother. As we get into our big wide sweeping turns, you can see how the airbag is going to keep the truck level, reducing that body roll again. Behind the steering wheel it really feels much more stable and when you turn the wheel it's more responsive. As we get into the bump section, you'll see with the increased suspension travel is really going to smooth out the ride as we head across any uneven surfaces, potholes, anything like that. Now before we begin our installation, we want to note the factory ride height of our truck. We always use the inside edge of the wheel well here. You're just going to measure from the ground and you want to write this down both here in the rear and in the front. Now the first step in our installation's going to be to get the jounce bumper removed. We're going to have a bolt here on the back side. The same place just up here on the front side. We're going to remove those with a 15 millimeter socket. That's going to provide us with the attachment points for our frame bracket. We've got that one there and that one there. I'm going to go on the passenger's side and repeat that same process. Now we can take the frame bracket. It's going to be the one with the largest hole. Position that up so that the large hole is facing out toward our tire. We'll thread in the two longer of the buttonhead bolts there. Then we'll get those torqued to the specifications in the instructions. We want to get both of our airbags set up just as you see this one. This is going to be our driver's side. For our passenger's side, we want it to be a mirror image so we'll start by threading in our swivel fitting there. We want to go hand-tight with this and then a turn and a half further. One and a half. Now we'll bring the roll plate right down over the top and you'll see how the holes in that plate are going to line up with the two holes remaining at the top of the airbag. Now remember we want this to be a reverse of the first one that we did. You'll see two square holes. One's going to be further away from this hole. The other one's a little bit closer. The one that's closer we need to place one of our 3/8ths carriage bolts in. Then we'll bring that down over and line it up with the holes there and use the 3/8ths buttonhead screws to attach it. You see we're putting this in because the roll plate will prevent us from putting that in later. These are the buttonhead screws with the much finer threads and they're going to be shorter than the ones we used with the jounce bumper. Now we can snug our screws down and we're going to torque these to the specifications in our instructions. Now we can turn our attention to our lower brackets. Now these again, just like our uppers, are going to be pretty much carbon copies of one another. We have these large washers that we need to get put in place. These are going to be facing downwards so we're looking at the bottom of the bracket here. You'll see on the side closest to us we've got a square hole and a square hole, but also two round holes. We want our bolts, 3/8ths bolts, to pass up through the bracket the same way those tabs are facing up. Then we place on the large washer, then you want to add on a lug nut, and we're going to tighten both of these down so that they're secure. The same thing on both of them here. Now we can take our long carriage bolts and these are going to come up through the square holes on each side just like that. Each racket's going to get two of them. Now we're going to grab our driver's side spring assembly. To identify that, you want the carriage bolt to be away from you and to the left. That's going to leave the open carriage bolt hole here. Now when we attach the lower bracket to the bottom of the spring, we want that large washer that we installed to be located underneath these square holes here. Our carriage bolt hole locations. So they'll be going together just like that. Don't forget your roll plate and we'll set that on top and just like we did before, we're going to be put our screws in there to attach it. This time we're going to use the flathead holes. Now we're ready to get our flathead's bolts torqued down to the appropriate specifications and we'll repeat the process for our other air spring assembly. Now that we can get our assembly put in place here, the left side, this should be towards the outside of the vehicle and forward. As we do this, we need to bring this rear carriage bolt down in between the break lines and the axle. You may have to compress your bag just slightly. For now we need to get our upper mounting locations taken care of. What we'll do is pass our swivel air fitting through that large hole and then the rear carriage bolt's going to go through that hole. On top of that we want to place one of our 3/8ths flat washers and we're also going to thread on that nylon lug nut. Now on the opposite corner of our air spring, we're going to have the same square hole there and we'll take one of our 3/8ths carriage bolts and pass it up through. We're also going to put a washer in now that we've got out nylon lug nut on it. Now you can see that we've raised our axle up, bringing it closer to the bottom of the truck. That's reduced the distance between the old jounce stop and our upper bracket. You've got these sort of sandwiched together. We're just going to line up our brackets. Then we're going to tighten down our bolts. We're going through the same thing for our forward bolt. Right now we're going to torque down each of our nuts. The one here in the rear you're probably going to use what's called a crow's foot. The one in the front, a short-welled socket should be able to get in there for you. Now with this torqued down properly, let's go do the passenger's side. Right now the next step we need to complete is to get our axle straps put on the bottom side. These just get placed up on our carriage bolts here. Then we're going to secure them just like we did before. Flat washer and then the nylon lug nut. Then we can snug our nuts down here. Now we're going to torque these down to the specifications, which are also found in inaudible 00:11:13 we're just going to do the same thing on the passenger's side. Now something we like to do is just kind of trim these bolts off a little bit. You know, to prevent them from getting hung up or snagged on anything. Now when, we grab our air line, it's going to be one long piece. There's going to be a fitting on each end. We want to go to about the center section. We're going to cut it. Here we're using part number AL10530. Just a quarter inch tubing cutting. You can slide that down in and then just clip it to get these nice flush cuts. Now these can be installed just about anywhere on your vehicle your air lines will reach to. Some people like to put them on either side. In this case, because this plug's here. I'll probably put them side by side here I you chose to go in that location. I like to use the license plate bolt areas where I'll actually be able to bring these through, use them to attach the license plates to the vehicle, and then we'll just have our two air filler nozzles right there. It'll be nice and clean looking. To do that, we remove the plate and we're going to drill these two holes out with a 5/16ths inch bit. Then once we've got these holes drilled out, we'll see these little tabs that stick up in the back. You'll just want to trim those off. They don't have to be exactly flush. They're pretty close to flush with the back side of the bumper there. You don't have a high-speed cut-off tool, you can also use a razor knife. Onto each air line we'll thread on one of the nuts provided with the kit. We're also going to place on serrated lock washers. Luckily these nuts just barely threaded on there. Once we have these pushed through the bumper, we can adjust for the length we want coming through. Then we just take those and place them through just like that. Then we'll take our plate and we're going to put it on there. This is also going to work out if you have any kind of plate frames or anything you want to use. You'll place on one of the rubber washers there. One of the flat washers and then another one of the nuts. This really just has to be hand tight. You just want to compress that washer a little bit and then you've got a cap to go over it. If you've got a little bit of length there, you can adjust it in and out if you want. That's going to be a personal preference thing. Now we want to route each side towards the appropriate airbag. Be careful as you do this not to drag this tubing over any sharp metal. If you create grooves in, it's almost definitely going to leak on you. Our airbag's on the outside of the frame rail there, so at some point you want to pass that over. Then I like to use zip ties to hold it place anywhere I can. You can do it around or hitch here, around this cross member just to keep it up out of the way. You'll notice that underneath here we've got the spare tire removed and we also took down the heat shield and secured it in four locations here. That's really just to make it easier for you. See, you can do most of this with that in place if you choose to, but definitely a little more open if you take them out. Now it's a good idea to keep a little bit of extra air line on each side in case you ever have to make any changes or any kind of adjustments. Just tuck it up there out of the way, and then we'll have it if we need it. Now once we have our air line coming outside of the frame rim, we just need to push it into our elbow fitting. Again, you want to use a tubing cutter or a very sharp razor knife to get a good flush cut on the end. You're going to slide it in. You're going to feel the initial stop and then you're going to want to push it in just a little bit further. Do the same think over of the passenger's side as well. All right, we're going to test out our system. Let's pressurize it. We'll spray down our connections with some soapy water. Not only do we want to check the seam where our air hose goes into the elbow, but also where the elbow goes into the bag. We'll just give that a few minutes to sit and make sure we don't see any new bubbles form. Then we'll be good to go. Now with no leaks detected that's going to complete our installation of the Air Lift Load Lifted 5000 Air Helper Springs for the rear axle, part number AL57289, on our 2015 Ram 2500.

All in all great product Bolts could be a better grade had one carriage bolt break, I've never or even heard of that happening to anyone before maybe a fluke. Hour and a 1/2 install even with carriage bolt breaking. Would be 5 star if that wouldn't have happened. 672928

I ordered the Air Lift 5000 from etrailer and I was very pleased with doing business with them. I normally order parts from someplace else but I will be using etrailer for all my future needs. The part was delivered on time and etrailer helped me make the right choice for my needs. Helpful, knowledgeable, timely, and provided the right part for the job; 5 stars from me for that. Now onto the Air Lift 5000. I was amazed at how detailed the instructions were. They made it extremely easy to follow the instructions while building the assemblies. Probably one of the easiest part assemblies I have ever put on a truck and definitely the most detailed instructions I have ever seen. Everything bolted directly to stock mounts on the frame and no drilling was required. After getting everything mounted to the truck and installing the air lines, I was a little skeptical about the air line connections and I was afraid of leaks. I filled both air lines to 60 PSI after the install and when I checked the pressure this morning, I was still at 60 PSI. The last thing I will cover is the ride. I have not towed my trailer yet but I am excited for when I do. I dropped the air pressure to 7 PSI this morning and took a 30 mile drive. The difference this part has made is unbelievable. It still rides like a truck but it is much stiffer in the back now when driving on rough roads which adds a huge difference to the ride quality. I can only imagine the difference I will experience when towing my 12k trailer. Overall, I could not be more happy with my purchase. etrailer has 5 star customer service and they sold me a 5 star part. 484223

The nice feature of air springs is that you can custom tailor the ride to just about any situation. Carrying a full load?- Add more air for less sag and more stability. Less weight on the vehicle when youre not hauling? - Let some air out of the suspension for a softer, more pliable ride.

Review from a similar LoadLifter 5000 in Vehicle Suspension

Have had the air bags installed for 3-4 weeks now. Love them! Huge difference in ride quality when hauling or towing heavy loads. My only criticism is in the design. The left side fit perfect and the bag is perfectly aligned vertically but the right side bag is canted slightly. Almost as if the bottom brackets holes are drilled slightly off. I called the company and was told that up to 15 degrees is acceptable. It just looks as though the bag may wear more but time will tell I guess. I would still recommend. Also looking at purchasing the compressor system to ensure the bags always have adequate pressure. 421216

Review from a similar LoadLifter 5000 in Vehicle Suspension

High quality and heavy duty. Good instructions as well. Just got them installed yesterday on my 2009 F-150 crew cab with 6.5' box. I also have the B&W turnover gooseneck ball hitch and my main concern was still being able to mount these. Fit like a charm, no interference at all. I wish I would have purchased them sooner. Sometimes we haul loads that might be just a bit heavy for an F-150, but we are careful. These will certainly help. I have similar air bag type suspensions install on our other two work trucks and I love them. What I did was got myself a 1/4" compression tee and plumbed both air bags into one valve. That way, they air up evenly. It comes with everything to air up each bag separately but I prefer them to be the same. They cost about $6 at any hardware store. I mounted the single air fill valve near the drivers tail light inside the box facing forward. There is an opening where the tail light harness runs up and I followed that with the air valve. I drilled a hole and snaked a tie wire down and through some finagling I managed to get the valve out the hole and mounted. Looks good and is out of the way. Install took me about 5 hours from tools out to tools away, but I was not in a big hurry. I aired them up to 70 psi and drove home looking like a hot rod with the back kicked up. Checked the air pressure this morning and all is well. No leaks as far as I can tell. Highly recommended and a great price as well. 643462

Review from a similar LoadLifter 5000 in Vehicle Suspension

Great air bags. Install was straightforward and the directions were perfect. Really helps if you have a friend assist. One under the truck and one from the top makes it much faster. 543324

Review from a similar LoadLifter 5000 in Vehicle Suspension

Came well packaged, all itsy bitsy parts accounted for. Says no drilling required but you will need a cutting wheel or hacksaw to cut a bolt off. Instructions are pretty good but pictures sometimes don't show exactly what you need to know. My favorite part 2 hrs install. We all know that means at least 4. One more hour and I'll be finished. 426268

  • Helper Air Bag Springs for a 2016 Ram 2500 Towing a Fifth Wheel
On the AirLift LoadLifter 5000 kit, part # AL88289, the jounce springs won't engage if there is some pressure in the airbags, and you aren't hitting a significant bump in the road. The jounce spring will only engage after the suspension and airbags themselves take any initial pressure. Since the airbags will require at least 5 PSI of pressure in them at all times, the jounce won't engage as often as it seems that it should. The urethane of the jounces also engages smoother than traditional...

  • Is Compressor System Required for LoadLifter 5000 Springs on a 2017 Ram 2500 w/ Bilstein Shocks
While a compressor system like the Air Lift WirelessAIR # AL72000 isn't mandatory for the Air Lift LoadLifter 5,000 Air Helper Springs # AL57289 on your 2017 Ram 2500 with Bilstein Shocks, it is definitely something that we highly recommend. Reasons being that a compressor system keeps you from having to hunt down a compressor when you need to inflate your air bags and also provides an active monitor that gives you advanced diagnostic reports so you know if you have a leak or a compression...

  • Recommendation for Best Air Suspension Kit and On-Board Compressor for 2020 Ram 2500
For maximum durability and corrosion resistance, go with the AirLIft Load Lifter 5000 Ultimate Plus, part # AL89289. This system uses stainless roll plates, hardware and air lines for serious durability and corrosion protection. The springs themselves are 2 ply with a reinforcing fabric layer for extra toughness. If you don't live in the rust belt or near the ocean, the # AL57289 regular LoadLifter 5000 kit would work fine for you. Both kits are compatible with your Ram Factory 5th Wheel...

  • Can Air Springs Be Added to 2018 Ram 2500 to Increase Towing Capacity
Adding air springs like the Air Lift LoadLifter 5000 # AL57289 to your 2018 Ram 2500 will enhance the factory suspension so that it can better handle weights within its capacity but it will not actually increase this limit. This will be the case with any aftermarket product. Unfortunately there is nothing you can add to your Ram to increase its official from-the-factory capacity from the 12,450 pound number you mentioned. The Air Lift LoadLifter Air Springs will do a great job of keeping...

  • Will Airbags Work with the Articulink Rear Suspension on a 2017 Ram 2500 Power Wagon
The articulink rear suspension on your 2017 Ram 2500 Power Wagon will not cause any issues with a set of airbags or a 5th wheel hitch because they all install in slightly different locations on the vehicle and do not counteract one another. For a set of airbags, I recommend using the Air Lift LoadLifter 5000 Air Helper Springs part # AL57289 because they do not require any drilling into the truck frame and they do not interfere with the brackets for a 5th wheel hitch. The Air Lift LoadLifter...

  • Will the Air Lift LoadLifter 5,000 Air Helper Springs Fit on a 2017 Ram 2500 with Bilstein Shocks
My contact at Air Lift said that you will have no problem installing the Air Lift LoadLifter 5000 Springs # AL57289 on the rear axle of your 2017 Ram 2500 with the off road package with Bilstein Shocks. Please note that a compression system is the best way to help you inflate and manage your air bags. I recommend using the Air Lift WirelessAIR Compressor System for Air Helper Springs # AL72000. This system will allow you to monitor your Air Lift system while inside your truck using the...

  • Can Vehicle with 6 inch Lift Use Air Lift Suspension Enhancement Kit
For vehicles with 6 inch suspension lifts you would need to use the part # F2375 which is a 6 inch spacer kit. This will work well with the Air Lift kit part # AL57289 that you referenced.

  • Will Air Lift LoadLifter 5000 Air Helper Springs Increase Axle Capacity?
The Air Lift Loadlifter 5000 Air Helper Springs # AL57289 on your 2016 Ram 2500 (or any other suspension enhancement systems) will not increase your payload or axle capacity. The suspension enhancements like this are only intended to help support your load up to 5000 lbs for leveling. Your axle rating of 6,840 lbs will be the max capacity. These helper springs will extend the life of your current suspension, but does not increase weight.

  • Will the SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs Fit a 2017 Ram 2500 Power Wagon
The SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs part # SSR-312-54 will fit a 2017 Ram 2500 Power Wagon as will the Air Lift LoadLifter 5000 Air Helper Springs part # AL57289 for that matter and they will both do an excellent job of reducing sag/squat. I recommend the air bags because they are adjustable so you can always get the perfect level of support and comfort for any given trailer/load but the SumoSprings will still fit and work well.

  • Recommended Air Lift Air Suspension for Rear Axle of 2016 Ram 2500
We have three different Air Lift systems that'll work, but the right system for you will depend on how you mainly use your truck. If you tow infrequently, or carry heavy loads in the truck bed infrequently, the # AL57289 from Air Lift with its 5000 lb capacity would work well for you. If you tow or haul fairly often with heavier weights, the # AL89289 Load Lifter Ultimate would be a better choice because of its internal bump stops which help reduce body roll in turns and also prevents the...

  • Recommended Air Springs For 2016 Ram Big Horn With 5.7 Hemi
For your 2016 Ram Big Horn with 5.7 Hemi, Air springs will help level the ride and give you additional support, but it will not allow you to carry more weight than the vehicle load capacity specs. The factory suspension is assisted in distributing the weight, but that doesn't mean you can carry more. If you have a 2016 Ram 1500, I recommend the Air Lift LoadLifter 5000 Air Helper Springs - Rear Axle # AL57365. There is also the Air Lift LoadLifter 5000 Ultimate Air Helper Springs with...

Yes, you can use the Air Lift SmartAir II Automatic-Leveling Compressor System # AL25491 on your 2019 Ram 2500 with coil spring rear suspension. You'll need an air bag kit installed on the vehicle as well like the part # AL57289 which is the correct kit for your truck and provides it with up to 5,000 lbs of additional suspension support.

The AirLift # AL57289 LoadLifter 5000 Air Helper Springs would work well for your 2014 Ram 2500 with the coil spring suspension. The suspension can be adjusted by adding or removing air as needed, from 5 - 100 psi. the kit has a 5000 lb capacity, but keep in mind it won't increase the weight bearing capacity of the vehicle in any way.

  • What is the Unloaded Ride Quality Using Air Lift LoadLifter Air Bags on a 2017 Ram 2500
The Air Lift LoadLifter 5000 Ultimate Air Helper Springs with Internal Jounce Bumpers part # AL88289 could potentially affect the ride quality in a negative manner if you were to hit a dip or pot hole in the road while unloaded because of the internal jounce bumpers which is why I recommend using the Air Lift LoadLifter 5000 Air Helper Springs part # AL57289 instead. There will be very little to no effect on ride quality while unloaded and using these airbags. Please keep in mind that the...

I do have a solution for you, however the black SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs # SSR-610-47 you referenced in your question are not a confirmed fit for your 2015 Ram 2500. The yellow SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs # SSR-312-54 are a great option for your Ram 2500 for upgrading the rear suspension and keeping your vehicle level. • Recommended Air Bag Kit for 2019 Ram 2500 4WD
The correct Firestone rear air bag kit for your 2019 Ram 2500 4WD is either part # F2598 for standard duty (up to 5,000 pounds load-leveling support) or part # F2706 for the higher capacity Red Label model that features a 7,500 pound load-leveling capacity. I checked with Firestone and they show the same two kits for this particular truck. I wonder if the kit numbers they use on their site (which are W217602598 and W217602706 respectively) might be adding some confusion. These numbers...
