Question:
When I measure the space that the SumoSpring will set. The Spring will be engaged even when unloaded. The timbren will not. So will I really not see a change in the ride while unloaded with the SumoSpring?

The SumoSprings like the Rebel Custom Helper Springs - 2 Piece - Rear Axle # SS27GR and the Timbren # TDR2500D are almost the same height. The Timbren is 6-3/4" tall and the SumoSprings are approximately 7" tall with the brackets. Since these install in the same space there won't be much difference between the two when it comes to the fit.
Based on that information, I would still choose the SumoSprings # SS27GR over the Timbren. The Timbren will be far more rigid with its design and 8,600 lb capacity when compared to the SumoSprings. You may notice a slight difference in ride quality but it won't be like the Timbren which will be far more rigid. I recommend using the # SS95FR which have a capacity of 3,000 lbs to minimize the effects.
I have attached some review videos for your reference.
