Heavy loads can cause the back of your vehicle to sag and add unnecessary stress to your suspension. This stress not only affects your brakes in a bad way, but your tires, headlight aim and handling suffer as well. To improve your vehicle's ability to endure heavy loads, you need to add support to your existing coil springs.

Air Lift's AirLift 1000 adjustable air springs have 1,000 pounds of load-leveling capacity and are made specifically to fit inside your rear coil spring suspension for additional load assistance. You can inflate and deflate these tough, molded polyurethane helper springs as needed, ensuring the perfect amount of support for every load, every time. Easily level your vehicle front to rear, and if you run dual air lines to the air springs at installation, then you can inflate the springs independently of one another for side-to-side leveling. AirLift 1000 is a breeze to install with standard tools and comes with an easy-to-follow instruction manual.

AirLift 1000 comes with manual inflation valves that are typically mounted on the bumper but can be installed anywhere on your vehicle for easy access. For even more convenience and control, you can add a compressor and gauge system (sold separately), which will let you monitor and automatically inflate your air springs.

Air Lift kits are designed to keep your vehicle at normal ride height. You can find the normal ride height of your vehicle by unloading it and measuring the distance between the bottom edge of your wheel well and the center of the hub. After you find and record this distance, you can regulate the amount of air that you put into your air springs to maintain normal ride height - even when you are hauling a heavy load. You will need to adjust the air pressure in your air bags according to the size of your load.

Air Lift is positive that you will benefit from their air spring suspension system - so much so that they offer a 60-day satisfaction guarantee. Install and use AirLift 1000 springs for 60 days, and if you are not satisfied at the end of this time, you can remove them from your vehicle and return them for a full product refund.

Video Transcript for Air Lift Air Helper Springs Installation - 2015 Dodge Ram

Speaker 1: Today on our 2015 Ram 1500, you're going to be taking a look at and I'm going to show you how to install the Air Lift AirLift 1000 Air Helper Springs for Coil Springs for the rear, part number AL60818.The reason we want air bags, when we have weight in the back of our truck without the air bags, it lowers our back end. It's going to raise the front end. What that's going to do, it's going to bring our headlights up, it's going to put unnecessary wear and tear on our tires, it's going to make our steering really light, and it's going to affect our braking. With our airbags, where going to be able to bring that right height back up to normal, with weight on it, bring our headlights down, change our steering back to normal, along with our braking, and it's going to change the way our tires wear. This is what our polyurethane bags look like when they're installed. These are going to give you 1,000 low-leveling support. You're going to have a max psi of 35 lbs, and you want no less than 5 psi while traveling with the bags.

Here in the back we're going to have two valves. That's going to allow us to adjust each back independently for uneven loads. This is going to approve your steering and braking, and also maintain a safe headlight aim. As far as the installation goes, it is a straightforward installation, very simple. The bags slide inside the springs, and you run your airline tube to the back, add your fittings, and you're ready to go.

Now that we've gone over some of the features, let me show you just how easy these are to put in.First thing you want to do before we start our installation, we want to get a ride height measurement. We're going to go from the edge here to the ground, or from the ground to the edge. We're going to do that on the front and the back to get a normal ride height. The reason we want to do this is, once we add our bags and then we add weigh to it, we want to be able to air those bags up to get that measurement as close to the normal ride height as possible, if not right on.So we'll go ahead and take the measurement now. With no weight, we're at 38-3/4 in the back.

Now let's take one in the front. In the front, we're at 36-1/4. Now that we've added some weight to the back of the truck, let's go ahead and take another measurement. We're at 37. Let's go ahead and take one of the front, too.

In the front, we're still at 36-1/2. Now with the weight in the back of our truck, our airbags inflated to about 35 psi, we're going to go ahead and take another measurement. Looks like we're back to normal ride height. Let's take one from the front, too. Now, in the front, again, we're back to normal right height. Now we're going to alleviate all the problems that we would have if we didn't have the airbag installed. Now, how you want to set this up in your garage is you want to trap your front wheels, set your emergency brake, and you want to set some jack stands on your frame. What we want to do it we want to let our wheel drop just enough to spread our spring out so that we can get the bag inside.Next we're going to take an 8 mm socket. We're going to remove all the bolts that run along the inside of our fender wheel so we can take out our liner. Now, you have two ways to do this. If you do it like this, you have plenty of room at the top for your airline tube and everything to work from here. If you don't want to take the time to take this off, that's fine, you can do it from underneath the truck. It might be a little bit tougher to get the line up on top up here, which I'll show you in just a little bit. So we're going to take a 8 mm socket. We're going to have some bolts that run along the side here, and we'll have two on the inside of our liner, and we're going to have one Phillips head screw right here. Now we're going to go ahead and try pulling out our liner. We'll start at the bottom corner. It'll make it easier, and just work your way up. It may be a little bit easier if you have a plastic trim panel tool to stick it back behind here, just to make sure you're cautious of this edge. You don't want to chip the paint or anything like that. Then we're going to have one more 8 mm bolt right underneath our trim. We'll just set our fender liner aside to be reinstalled later on.Next we want to take this little cap off the top of our bag, but hang onto it, because we're going to need it. We want to try and get as much air out of this bag as we can. So we're going to take . What I suggest, by the way, you're going to get some zip ties in your kit. I'd suggest picking up some longer ones. It's going to make it much easier. Then we're going to take our bag, see if we can't roll it in half. Once you've got the air out, put the cap back on. It might be easier if you have a second person while you're holding the bag, because as soon as you let it go, it's going to fill back up with air. Get the cap back on, get the zip tie on there. It'll hold your bag folded, like that. I'm going to put one on the top here just like that. Now we're going to take our cap back off, and then use the zip tie to compress the air out of it as much as possible. Now from here, we're going to go ahead and put our airline tube on, because there is a little bitty clip that goes around this brass fitting when the airline tube is on it. It's hard to get a pair of pliers inside the spring to get that on top of this brass fitting, so we're going to do it outside, and we'll just feed our line up through the top.So you want to make sure you have a clean cut. I would suggest picking up a pair of airline tube cutters, if you don't have any. We carry them. You're just going to lay it in there. You want to make sure you have good, clean cuts, you don't have any pinches. Take our tube, push it onto the copper fitting, take a pair of pliers, channel locks, slide that down over the fitting and the tube. Now we're going to take the bottom end of our bag, we're going to slide it in between our spring like that. Next we're going to have a ring like this. We're going to slide it over our hose, and we want to get it up and over top of this fitting. This is going to help protect the top of our bag and protect our fitting when we add weight to the truck. Now we're going to take the end of our airline tube, and the top of this cap here is all open, so we're going to feed our line up through it like that. Go ahead and pull your airline tube all the way through, and then we're going to spin our bag around, and then we're going to cut the zip ties off and let our bag fill up with air.Once your bag is inflated, we're going to run our airline to the back of the vehicle. You want to make sure you stay away from anything hot or moving. It's ideal if you can find some existing wiring. As you're running it back, zip tie it right to it. And I've decided not to go on top of the inaudible 00:07:19 channel. It's a little bit too tight, and I don't want to take a chance of puncturing the line. I'm going to zip tie it right here to this factory wiring. Just make sure you leave enough here at the top. You've got to keep in mind that your wheel moves, and so does the spring, so this is going to drop with the axle. Make sure you leave enough that it doesn't stretch that line out and pop it off. Let me run the rest of my line through the back of the truck, and I'll show you how I did it.So how I routed it is I have some existing wiring here from where I zip tied it before. I have another one here that went right over the top of my frame, right down inside, and I actually zip tied it to my factory 7-pole wiring. Ran it right down behind my hitch, looped it once, which I will zip tie this to the hitch, and then ran my line out here. Now we're going to repeat the same process over on the other side of the vehicle. So I have a hole right here in my hitch. I'm actually going to put my valve here. I have one on each side. Now, I've got my line back here. I'm going to loop it once, just in case we have to do any modifications on the airline tube itself later on. I have a little bit of extra. What you can do to make it easier on yourself, before you install your airline tube, is if you take both ends and put them together, find the center of the tube and then cut it in half. Then you'll have an even amount for both sides. Otherwise, you can do it just like this, run it down, and cut it right here. I'm going to feed that right through there, just like that. Let that hang. Now with our airline tube cut, make sure it's flat. We're going to take our little clamp, slide it on. We're going to add our air fitting, and we're going to push our clamp down onto the air fitting like that. Now we'll push our airline tube back through. We're going to add on the nut. We're going to go all the way down to the end, and we're going to add on our star washer. Then we're going to put it back through the hole, and we're going to add on a rubber washer, a flat washer, and then the other nut. Then we're going to adjust how much air fitting we want out or in by just moving the nuts forward or backwards. I think that'll be good. Now we'll take two 1/2" wrenches. If you don't have two 1/2", you can use a 13-1/2 to hold one on the back and one on the front. We're going to snug this up. inaudible 00:10:25 nice cap to go on each side. Now, you do have an option to just use one fitting for both bags. In your kit you're going to get a little T like this. All you would do is you would hook your line into one side from one airbag and one into the other, you'd run a single line to one of the fittings.Next we're going to add about 30 psi to each side. Now we want to take some soapy water, and we want to spray it on all of our fittings, or where our line is going into our fittings, to make sure we don't have an leaks. And what we're looking for is we're looking for big bubbles, or a whole bunch of little bubbles pooling up. Looks like those are fine. We'll check the back side. Once we've determined we don't have any leaks, we're going to go ahead and reinstall our fender liners in reverse order from the way we took them out. That'll do it for a look at and installation on the Air Lift AirLift 1000 Air Helper Springs for Coil Springs for the rear, part number AL60818 on our 2015 Ram 1500.

Installation was easy, and that’s really all I can comment on at this point as I am yet to use it. I’d recommend going from the top of the coil down when trying to install the folded bag. 510670

System was ez to install. Works great! Make sure you route the hoses so they wont get pinched between the shock coils. Also route the hoses so they are securely anchored but have enough slack for suspension flexing. I tow a 8,000 lb toy hauler with about a 1200lb hitch weight. I have 6” of lift in my Ram 1500 pickup and before the bags the rear was really compressed under the load. With the bags at 30PSI the rear barely dips and drives very stable even over rough roads. Have used the system under load for over 8000 miles of high speed towing, again often over rough roads. Worked great! Only negative is that the inflate nipples and mounting rings corroded quickly. Easily replaceable with stainless parts available at any good hardware supplier. I will be changing the hoses this year as they are not hi quality and its time to change out those. I’ll use a higher quality hose this time. I also use a high end equalizer hitch to help. Both systems work well together. 541945

I wanted to stop the droop when towing my 21' trailer. Works great. Read the reviews before you start your install. There are many good tips there that are not in the instructions. When folding the flattened air bag for insertion into the spring use zip ties to hold it in the folded position. Even though the second opening the in the spring looks bigger than the bottom opening, use the bottom one as it has a better angle. When applying the air hose to the fittings soak the hose 30 seconds or so in hot water so you can seat the hose all the way onto the fitting. Removing the tire and wheel gives you better access when putting the air hose on the bag fitting. Dropping the spare tire makes routing the air hose to the back a lot simpler. 351976

Installed Air Helper Springs on my 2014 Ram 4X4. Would recommend anyone to first remove the rear tires/wheels and pop out the plastic inner fender wells. Makes it a lot easier installing the air line on top of the air bags. Other than that, have bought numerous products from etrailer and "ALL" have been excellent products! 139412

I received this in just a few days and had a friend help me install it. I am VERY pleased with it! I had installed a leveling kit to the front end of my 2011 Dodge 1500 Sport, and after loading the bed with tools that I use for work, it sat down in the rear. These air bags are perfect. I put about 25lbs in to level out the truck. The truck rides better and looks great. We drilled out one of the bolt holes that secure my tag and installed the valve stem there. Works Great 107304

After having this product for a year, I can honestly say that I will never be without it! With the addition of this simple inexpensive product, other than just the looks I have noticed that my tire wear has dramatically improved! you know how cheap tires are... In the last year I have put about 40k miles on the truck. Im in the Agriculture business and see a lot of dirt roads and drive out into fields daily.I check the system air pressure any time I notice a change in my tire pressure. I havent seen any leaks and that was my main concern.Overall, I am extremely pleased with this product and believe it was worth every penny.Bottom line, if you are reading this review and are thinking about purchasing this product DO IT!

I just installed my airlift 1000 kit in my 2014 Ram 1500. The installation only took about 90 minutes and only required a pair of pliers, a knife, a jack and some jack stands. I warmed the bags with my floor heater to make them more pliable and softened the air lines with hot water so they install on the nipples easier, as suggested by etrailer's tech tip videos. So far this seams to be a quality kit and is holding air. I haven't tested it under a load yet so I can't speak to that, although I am optimistic based on other reviews. Etrailer's customer support is outstanding and their shipping is quick. I couldn't be happier at this point. 153068

I received my air helper springs yesterday and today I got them installed, with no issues. I removed the wheel well liners and jacked up the frame, one side at a time. I did not remove the wheels. I folded the bags and zip tied them as recommended and stuffed them between the top of the coiled spring. Jacking the frame up 4 inches helps spread the coils on the springs. After I ran the hose out the top of the spring perch (or whatever you call it) I found an oval hole in the top of the frame about 8 inches back. I ran the hose into this hole on each side and all the way out the back end of the frame. This should help protect the hose from the exhaust pipe. I drilled two holes not far from the passenger side of the license plate and put the valve stems there. Job done. I will be pulling a 24 ft camper trailer in about a month and look forward to seeing how these work. 432873

I installed these on my 2009 Ram 1500. The product was exactly as described and even with being located in Alaska, they arrived super quick! I haven't had the chance to test them out loaded yet as I just installed them last night, but plan on revising my review after the load testing goes! I will note that I installed these differently than stated in the instructions. I lifted the truck off the ground with the axle hanging and removed the rear coils completely and installed the air bag. This seemed like a much quicker and easier route than trying to fish the bag through the coil on the truck. I also routed my air lines in the rear bed stake pockets and under the edge of the bed to protect the valve from the weather. I will add that I have the Tuf-Truck 1223 rear coils and not the stock coils in the rear. I was hesitant to purchase airbags as its not the factory coil, but it worked out perfectly! with the HD coils and Airbags I should have no issues with sag. Overall I am really satisfied with this purchase. Every ram 1500 with coils should have these. 338266

Installation was super quick and easy in my home garage. The hardest part was finding a way to jack the truck high enough to hang the rear axle. My test was 25 bags of mulch. The before installation picture shows the rear squat. The after picture is of the exact same load with 30psi in the air bags. Super happy with the results. The ride is much better with a load in the back. Can't wait to hook up my camper to see how much better the ride is on a long trip. 361533

Shipped quick, boxed well, simple instructions. Installation was a bit more difficult than expected, but not impossible. If I could do it again, I’d remove the fender wells like the etrailer video suggests. I do recommend using zip ties to fold the bags down prior to slipping them in the coil springs. Hooked up my camper, hooked up the weight distribution bars, added air, and it significantly reduced the sag and raised the camper to a level position on my 2017 Ram Big Horn 4x4 towing a 26’ forest river camper 5750 lbs. I had no leaks after a 16 hour leak down test at 35 psi. Just a fantastic and inexpensive upgrade that drastically improves ride quality and stability. No more sweaty palms while driving! 557399

After installing the AirLift 1000 air bags on my 2013 Ram 1500 it raised the rear suspension up about 1.5 inches or more when I hook up our (1/2 ton tow-able) 32 foot fifth wheel RV . This gave me a much better ride and control while pulling the RV. My biggest problem was getting the air line on the bag after it was in the rear spring. When I installed the other side I attached the air line on the bag prior to sliding it into the rear spring and fed the line out the top of the spring assembly as the bag was being inserted. This made a much easier air line connection. If you need some lift and stability I would recommend the AirLift 1000 air bags. 555251

Purchased for 2016 Ram that sagged do to a fiberglass cap and boat tongue weight. They level out truck and reduce the number of high beam flashes I get from oncoming traffic. I run 20 psi normally and 25 with boat. I have never had a leak nor problems with truck on a frame lift. Thus is my second vehicle with a set. Highly recommend. 504679

This product was very easy to install and works like a charm. The boat I tow is about 8000 lbs and with the airlift installed it levels out my truck perfectly. Now I know that I am able to stop properly with all the weight evenly distributed. I would recommend this product to anyone who tows a lot of weight. Of course the next truck I purchase will be getting these installed immediately! As you can see from the pictures, I don't think I need to explain which picture is pre Airlift. 472264

Easy install and bags do exactly what I wanted them to do. I pull a 6600lb travel trailer. Around 750 lb of tongue weight. I bought these for a little extra support to stop porpoising with dips in the roads. It does exactly that. I run 5lb without the trailer and 13-15 with. Very pleased 679493

If you tow trailers or carry heavy loads in the bed of your truck or van, you can use Air Lift Helper Springs to keep your vehicle level and free from sagging. It does not affect the ride or steering negatively and is easy to adjust with a compressor, battery-operated inflator or hand pump. 654436

Installed in a 2015 Ram 1500 Outdoorsman. Easy install and worked as advertised. Pickup squatted so much before that tailgate would hit the lift. After install could easily open tailgate and lifted back end up several inches. Installed yesterday took about 2 hrs taking my time using the lift at the Base auto hobby shop. I did not even pull tires, just fender liners, I ran the lines individually through the upper license plate bolt holes. Ride felt a little stiffer on way home ride was kind of soft with topper in my opinion prior to airbags. Held air this morning after pumping it up to 35 over night, Only improvement would be to upgrade the T from plastic to metal I did not want to use that plastic T. 555247

The airlift 1000 is awesome it works perfectly it does what it’s supposed to do I had it on my 2009 Dodge ram 1500 and I love them and now I bought a 2017 dodge ram 1500 and have them on there too I like the rough ride stiffness of the suspension. It’s a great product thank you guys The shipping was fast to. 555246

Still working great after a year, we pull a 26ft trailer with our 2014 1500 Dodge truck. Only takes a couple minutes to fill the bags up. It made a big difference. It took the squat out and now the truck and trailer are pretty level. And etrailer people are great to help you, great company. 542958

Installed the product, took about 2 hours to remove the old ones and install the new. Comparing these airbags to the old ones I am a little concerned. The new ones seem a little thinner which may not hold up in the cold climate I live in. Time will tell. 513930

Great little bags, not hard to install, but a little intimidating the first time. A buddy and I have installed 3 different set of these exact ones on three trucks so far and all are happy campers. Make sure you remove the rear wheels and flatten the bags completely before installation. 473160

Over a year's time, this has been a good product. The airbags can make a feint squeaking sound, about 5% of the time, and only when the engine is off. I've never heard it while driving. Overall, this system has worked as advertised. I'll buy it again for my next truck. 461849

Just got the equalizer 14000 weight distribution hitch and the airlift bags in today from ups. Took a little over 2 hours to install both. The hitch I had before combined with the stock ram 1500 suspension was all over the road with my toy hauler. I couldn't go over 35-40 miles an hour with out feeling like I was going to lose my rig and anyone that's ever been in that situation knows what a white knuckle experience that is. I just got back from a test drive and it is unbelievable the difference those two items made. I got up to 70 and it drove like a dream. For reference my toy hauler is 8500#s with a 850# tongue weight. Thank you etrailer for the best product, fast/free shipping and definitely the lowest price. 382290

This product seems well built. It's easy to install with a little persuasion. It was about 40 degrees in my garages during the install. So to make the air bags easier to work with I used a small heater with fan to blow air into the open box. While I lifted the vehicle. It made compressing the air bag for installation a snap. I'm excited to try hook onto our fish house to see the improvement. So far I've aired it up to max pressure so it can settle in over night. And I found that, when empty and at 35psi it raised the truck 1.5" at the hitch. 340799

Been working out great. Have used these bags to offset loads of wood, four wheeler, towing a skid steer and towing a mini excavator. Great bang for the buck. Add air when you need. it down to 5 psi for a factory ride. Also, I installed these without taking the fender liners out. Only had to remove the right rear tire.

This system works with tongue weight from 600 to 1,200 lbs and 12,000 gross towing weight. This system should provide a more even ride for the trailer and the vehicle. • Advantages and Disadvantages of Using a Single Path or Dual Path Compressor System for Air Springs
  • Your understanding of how the air in the bags will operate is correct. If both bags are on one valve the air will shift from one to the other while turning with a heavy load. However, if the load is distributed evenly it will also return to even once you straighten out. So it isn't really an unsafe situation unless the load is much heavier on one side compared to the other. With dual valves if one bag was to lose air for some reason your ride would then be uneven. If the other bag...
