Question:

Im currently thinking about adding Air Lift 1000 to my truck. My thought is that the Air Lift would allow me to readjust the WD hitch and reduce the strain on the hitch while improving our ride and handling while towing. Thoughts? Also, I noticed there is now Air Lift HD. Any pros and cons you can share on HD vs std?

The Air Lift AirLift 1000 Air Helper Springs for Coil Springs will work in the exact manner you want; improving the ride and how your 2014 Ram 1500 handles when you are towing. These air springs will reduce the strain on your Ram's suspension and you will be able to readjust your weight distribution system; just note that you will want to inflate the springs before adjusting your weight distribution.

In regards to the difference between the Air Lift AirLift 1000 Air Helper Springs # AL60818 and the HD model, the Air Lift AirLift 1000HD Air Helper Springs # AL60818HD, the only difference is their psi and load-leveling capacity.

The AirLift 1000 have a 1,000 lb leveling capacity and their psi can be adjusted from 5 to 35 while the AirLift 1000HD have a 2,100 lb leveling capacity and their psi can be adjusted from 5 to 50.

Since you already have a weight distribution system I recommend the AirLift 1000 Air Helper Springs # AL60818; the 1,000 lb capacity of these springs will be plenty and you won't see additional benefits from the added capacity of the HD model.

I do recommend checking out the Air Lift Load Controller II Compressor System for Air Helper Springs # AL25592 because it will make it easy to adjust the pressure of the helper springs from the cab of your Ram 1500.
