Question:

I have a 2014 Ram 1500 and I am looking at doing air Lift 5000 system on the rear. There are two systems the 5000 and the ultimate 5000 with internal jounce. What would be the advantage of the internal jounce. I also need an onbaord air compressor and a trailer brake.

The advantage of the AirLift air spring systems that have an internal jounce bumper is that in the event of an air leak your Ram 1500 would not lose all of the extra suspension support. You would still have the internal jounce bumper as a fail-safe to absorb some bumps and shocks, although the adjustable leveling ability of air bags would be gone until you could repair the fault.

Kit # AL88365 which fits both 2WD and 4WD versions of your Ram 1500 includes these jounce bumpers. The two linked videos will provide a recap of the kit components and also the complete install process. I recommend using air tubing cutting tool # AL10530 which enables perfectly square cuts for a more reliable installation.

For your compressor you can go with a single path unit # AL25592 which controls both bags or the heavy-duty dual path kit # AL25856 which allows for independent control of each bag's pressure. This will be a better option for hauling uneven cargo loads. This heavy-duty compressor also allows you to set a minimum pressure level so that the compressor will automatically kick in if the bag pressure drops. This is definitely the way to go, in my opinion. An install video for this kit is included for you.

For a trailer brake controller I recommend the tried-and-true workhorse Prodigy P3 # 90195. This controller has an enviable reliability record and includes user-friendly features you'll come to appreciate as soon as you start using it. These include a large display that is easy to read, storable brake power settings you can call up at will and compatibility with both electric and electric-over-hydraulic brakes. All you need to install it is wiring adapter # 3023-P.
