Question:

Besides the difference in load ratings, is there anything else different between these options? Any particular reason why the 1000 is more popular than the 1000HD. This is for a 2017 Ram 1500 2wd. Thanks

Other than the weight capacities, there isn't really a difference between the Air Lift Standard Duty # AL60818 and Heavy Duty # AL60818HD. As to the popularity of the # AL60818 over the # AL60818HD, it will actually have to do with the capacities as well.

Most people that are looking for air bags will either be looking for a little bit of help, or quite a bit of help. By that I mean the people that are looking for a little support to supplement their suspension will typically lean towards an inexpensive, yet effective option. The # AL60818 fills this need very well

On the other hand, people needing more than just a little support will tend to look at something more heavy duty, like the Air Lift LoadLifter 5000 # AL88365. These offer a lot more support, so the # AL60818HD kind of gets overlooked a little bit due to it being in an odd weight range, for the lack of a better way to put it.

With all that being said, there is absolutely nothing wrong with the # AL60818HD and for the price, it is a great option if you are needing help with sag while towing. It is also significantly easier to install than something like the # AL88365, so if you are looking for a medium amount of support, it will be a good option.
