Recommended Air Spring Kit And Compressor For A 2014 Ram 1500
Question:
I have a 2014 Ram 1500, Crew Cab, 4X4, 6 bed with a 2-3 leveling kit on. I am looking at adding an air bag and controller and think I want to go with the Air Lift. Right now I am undecided on the 5000Ultimate, 7500XL OR the 1000. I was also looking at the Wireless Air or the Wireless One but leaning on the Air. I use the truck for towing different trailers, including our 10K lb Travel trailer AND simple pleasure driving and wanted get your suggestions before I but. I have the hitch systems and all from Etrailer and you guys have always steered me right. As this is a big safety issue and investment, any suggestions or guidance is greatly appreciated. Bill

Hey Bill,
Air Lift unfortunately doesn't have a 7500XL air spring kit for your Ram and the LoadLifter 5000 # AL88365 won't work with an in-bed hitch because the mounting brackets for would interfere with each other. So that leaves just the Air Lift 1000 Air Helper Springs for Coil Springs # AL60818 as a compatible fit.
Since this expands inside of the coil springs it won't be affected by the 2" - 3" lift. It has a 1,000lb load leveling capacity. To put it on perspective tongue weight is typically 10-15% of the trailer's GVWR. If your trailer weighs 10k then you'd be looking at 1,000 - 1,500lbs of tongue weight that the air spring would try to compensate for. It's not going to make up as much as some other models but will definitely help with sagging and overall handling of the Ram.
With this style air spring you shouldn't really need a dual path compressor so the WireONE # AL25980EZ would be the better option of the two.

Thank you so much Kevin. Very informative but I neglected to specify that all our trailers are bumper pull, so NO in bed hitch or associated conflict of mounting. With this omitted information now available to you what system would you suggest? Bill
