LED Surface-Mount Technology

This light bar is built using surface-mount technology (SMT). This method of construction involves soldering LEDs directly to the surface of a printed circuit board. SMT eliminates the need for leads, which are used in older through-hole technology. The result is a circuit board that is smaller yet provides more routing area and that offers superior performance, reliability, and durability.


Circuit boards constructed using SMT have been shown to perform better under rough conditions with excessive vibration than those made using the through-hole method. And when would vibration be more likely to occur than when you are driving?

Very nice, like that it is not really visible unless lights are on.

It is possible to install without removing tailgate ! Did it today is less than an hour.

There is a slight gap visible f try om top where piece overlaps a sheetmetal seam on each side, that is not even. To be safe, I applied clear silicone sealant on topside where these gaps are obvious. Also where tailgate harness passes thru middle opening, there was a slight gap to tape, so sealant was also applied in that area to prevent water seepage behind seal of lightbar unit.

    Hey Rickey, I have not heard of that issue too often but I have seen similar experiences before. The most likely cause in my opinion is the difference in power draw between the light bars bulbs and your vehicles originally. Most likely your truck has incandescent bulbs and the light bar has LED lights. The lower power draw from the LED lights almost mimics that of a burnt or bad bulb.
