Will Plugging in a Rampage LED Light Bar Disable Backup Sensors on a 2009 Chevy Suburban

Published 01/15/2015

Question:

Was going to use the 118384 T to wire up and hide the 4 plug behind the bumper and still be able to use regular factory plug when needed however curious if I have the rampage light bar plugged into the 4 plug all the time is it going to engage the sensor that shuts off my backup sensors when I plug something into harness? Whenever I plug trailer into vehicle OEM 7 plug it trips sensor in the suburban to shut off the back up sensors and just wondering if I use the T and hook up the 4 plug permanently if it will bypass the sensor?

It is likely that if you were to plug in the 4-Way, # 118384, and then plugged in the Rampage light, # RA960134, it would still shut off the back up sensors. This is because you are teeing into the factory harness so there would still be power draw through the factory wiring.

To prevent that from happening you would need to hardwire in a 4-Way to the tail light wiring on your Suburban using # C59236. Since it pulls power from the vehicle battery and signals from the tail light wiring it would not be subjected to the same circuitry as the tow package wiring.
