Light changes how your Transit feels inside. Without it, the rear stays dark and harder to use. This fixed rear cargo door window swaps that solid panel for glass, bringing in daylight and rear visibility without creating an open window.
This fixed window replaces the solid panel in the passenger-side rear cargo door of your Ford Transit. Rear doors swing open and shut constantly, so this glass is made 25% thicker than standard van windows and is tempered to meet DOT and SAE standards. The added thickness helps the door maintain rigidity around the cutout as it operates.
The rear cargo doors sit directly behind the cargo area and create a clear sightline into the van. The 12% gray tint limits how much someone can see inside while still allowing visibility out. It also blocks 88% of UV rays, reducing sun exposure through that rear door glass.
Cutting into the rear cargo door is permanent. The glass has to match the factory contour so the urethane seals evenly against the door skin. This window follows the original stamping profile, so when it is set into place, the edge matches the panel you just opened up.
After the opening is cut, a continuous bead of automotive urethane (VW74ZR - sold separately) is applied around the perimeter. When the glass is set into place, that urethane bonds it to the door frame and forms the seal that keeps water from entering the interior cavity. This bond secures the glass and creates the weather barrier so you can bring in light without adding a vented opening.

Hi everyone, Steven here with etrailer. Today we're taking a look at this Van Windows Direct rear cargo door window. It's a fixed window, so that means it's not going to go up or down, and it's for the passenger side. Now folks, this is a custom fit application. Make sure you're using the fit guide over here at etrailer.com. Be sure you're getting the right parts the first time.
This particular one looks like it fits a 2015 through current Ford Transit, the T150, 250 and 350s. So folks, I do apologize. I will be behind the glass for most of this video just because the nature of the size and I don't want to break this. So it's going to serve a couple purposes. Obviously you can see that tint.
So if you're converting a Ford Transit into a camper, a work van, or even an adventure rig, one of the biggest advantages and upgrades you can do is by adding more natural light without sacrificing your privacy. So that's again what we're looking at today. So unlike standard replacement glass, this window is built 25% thicker and it's a tempered safety glass, so 25% thicker. And then it also uses a 12% gray colored privacy tint is what the manufacturer's calling it. So I'm trying to tilt it here so you can see that tint.
Again, that is the inside. Let me spin it back around carefully to the outside view again. Now this is going to be a great option for you again, because that tint is going to block about 88% of the harmful UV rays that will help also to reduce heat and sun exposure inside of your van. Now installation's pretty straightforward. It is designed to deliver an OE style appearance.
The glass has been formed to match your factory contour of that Ford Transit cargo door. And then once it's installed, you will follow the original body lines for a clean factory looking finish. It does require, after you open it, the use of automotive grade urethane, and I'll put those kits that we carry separately as far as the item numbers that they are up on the screen. And again, folks, this will work with both medium roof and high roof Ford transit models, regardless of the wheel base, since they all share that same rear cargo door stamping.
