This awning bunk window is for camper vans where you want airflow, shade, and privacy in one opening. Instead of adding separate screens and blackout panels, it combines a two-stage awning vent with an integrated mesh screen and pleated shade.
The glass panel opens in two stages. Release the four interior latches and push outward until the strut clicks to open the window about 4". Push outward again to open it fully to roughly one foot. This gives you control over how much air you let in without committing to a full opening right away.
The interior panel includes a mesh screen and a pleated shade. Run the screen alone for airflow, close the shade for privacy, use both together, or retract both completely for an unobstructed opening. You don't need separate add-ons to manage light and bugs.
This bunk window sits at eye level from outside, creating a direct view into the sleeping area when parked near others or in public spaces. The 17% gray tint limits how much someone can see inside while still allowing visibility out. It also blocks 83% of UV rays, reducing sun exposure through that section of glass.
The clamp ring sandwiches the van wall between the interior and exterior frame to secure the window. Installation requires spacer material between the wall and clamp ring unless using mounting bracket (VW67FR - sold separately) for walls up to 1/8" thick, so the window installs with consistent support instead of relying on stacked spacers.

Hi everyone. Steven here with etrailer. Let's take a look at our Van Windows Direct Overlander Awning Van Bunk Window. Folks, when you're camping off grid, good ventilation isn't just about comfort. It literally helps reduce condensation, keeps the interior cooler, fresher, and just makes it a much better place to spend the night. So this measures externally 36 and a half by 60 inches tall.
It's an excellent fit for bunks, sleeping areas, and you're going to want to bring a natural light in and also create valuable airflow throughout the van. Now the cutout side is going to be 35 and three eights long by 15 inches. Now, as always, you want to make sure you follow the instructions whenever you're installing any kind of window or anything inside of your vehicle. Now this particular window unit's going to come with two pieces. So I have the main exterior window, or three pieces rather.
I'm going to go ahead and set this interior piece down. So you have the main window and on the backside you have this spacer ring or install ring. And then of course (metal clangs) you got the main window itself. As you can see, it's tempered glass. It's got a nice anti-glare.
It's reflecting so much that you're seeing my lights on top of the studio. And as far as me just opening that up, it's as simple as opening all of these latches (latches click) and then simply pushing it open. And then those gas struts on the inside are going to be what holds it up. Now you can manually twist those knobs on the gas struts and you can keep that open that high or however high you want. But just from gravity and the gas that's in there, it's going to hang at about a 45 degree angle is what I've been finding.
And then again, very simple to just close back up, (metal clatters) relatch all the sides. (latches click) And then once again, this aluminum trim ring marries up and that'll be used during the installation. (metal clatters) So I want to talk about insulation before we go to the interior features. You will need to purchase some things that aren't included for the installation, maybe some urethane, maybe some foam sealant tape and a caulk gun. I'll put all out there on the screen for you. And that stuff that we carry here separately, it's all stuff that's in the instructions for this install. That being said, you don't want to tackle the install. You're scared to cut into the metal side of your van, no problems. Now folks, on the inside of this window, you're going to have this guy right here. And this is pretty impressive, I got to say. I've done a lot of these windows and this one here actually came with this finished trim, if you will. And what this is, it's going to give you a mesh screen and a pleated shade. So depending on the instructions and which way you want it, you can pull it down. And now I have that pleated shade. No one can see in. Or I can put that one up. Keep in mind you're looking from the inside of the van. I just got to turn it around right now. Or you can pull up this guy here and basically kind of have like a screen. So let fresh air in, but keep the bugs out, right So how cool is that, right I like the fact that you've got both options. You can easily (screen slides) put that one up, pull this one down, (screen slides) however you want to do it. I can pull both up like that. It literally is up to your imagination. And I just think that's really neat that they include that. So these four pieces of tape, they're literally just covering the strings and the screw that holds that apparatus up in place. You may remove those during insulation, but I think you could probably leave them on there and this would be hidden anyways. And of course it comes with, again, the hardware, the screws, clips, as far as that goes. And that ring was pre-drilled as far as holes and everything. The glass is going to be a nice tinted glass. Like I mentioned, it's going to reflect the sun, keep the UV out, but also give you that privacy at home in the van. Great window,nice quality my only complainte is the mounting screws were to short. Had to make a run to the HWD store
I would have given it a hirer rating but the screw are so cheap you need to go buy stainless steel as they de- head and strip. Do not use these screws or you will be very frustrated like me
Windows are great! Operate as they should and look good. 4 stars because the provided screws are crap. Even predating the holes the screw heads snap off very easily. Do yourself a favor and go buy some #6x3/4 self tapping sheet metal screws.
