Light changes how your Sprinter feels inside. Without it, the rear cargo door section stays dark and harder to use. This fixed side panel window replaces that solid section with glass, so you get more daylight and a clear view outside.
This window replaces the solid panel in the driver-side rear cargo door of your 2019-2021 Freightliner Sprinter or 2019-2026 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, any wheelbase. Instead of a blank section at the back of the van, you gain a fixed glass panel that adds visibility and natural light without introducing vents or moving parts. That section stays sealed while opening up the rear of the van.
When you drive over bumps or uneven pavement, the body of the van moves slightly. The glass in this panel moves with the surrounding metal, which helps reduce stress at the edges and lowers the chance of cracking. To handle that movement, this window uses tempered safety glass that meets DOT and SAE standards for road use.
The rear cargo door window sits at eye level from outside and creates a direct sightline into the cargo space. The 17% gray tint limits how much someone can see inside while still allowing visibility out. It also blocks 83% of UV rays, reducing sun exposure through that section of glass.
Cutting into the rear cargo door is permanent. The glass has to match the factory contour so the urethane seals evenly against the door. This window follows the original stamping profile, so when it is set into place, the edge matches the panel you just opened up.
After the opening is cut, a continuous bead of automotive urethane (VW84ZR - sold separately) is applied around the perimeter. When the glass is set into place, that urethane bonds it to the door and forms the seal that keeps water from entering the door cavity. This bond secures the glass and creates the weather barrier so you can bring in light without adding a vented opening.

Hi everyone, Steve here with etrailer. Today we're taking a look at the Van Windows Direct fixed rear cargo door window for the driver's side of a 2019 through 2021 Freightliner Sprinter any wheelbase, or a 2019 to current year Mercedes-Benz Sprinter any wheelbase. And here's an image of the exact window that you're looking at. So besides this image, make sure you're also checking the year, make and model of the fit guide here at etrailer.com. Be sure you're getting the right parts the very first time. Now folks, this again is a nice, factory style window.
It's going to be an OE look as you saw on the image. As you can see, it's got a nice tint to it, a privacy tint. It's going to sit eye level from the outside, so that tint's going to limit how easily people can see through there and see you on the inside. And it's a tempered safety glass, so it meets all DOT and SAE standards. That tint is going to block about 83% of those UV rays from coming in.
Now, if you have these cargo vans with the solid ware doors, the back section, as you know, can get dark, it can feel closed off. So by adding a window such as this, you're going to, one, bring a natural light, it's going to look better inside, it's going to make it look and feel bigger from the inside, and you're also now going to able to see outside a lot better. So basically from here, me looking through there, it's really about the same equivalent of looking through like some sunglasses, something of that nature. So it's a nice darker tint. And again, installation wise, you can get that done at a local install location around your area based on your zip code.
If you scroll down and click on your installer locator link, we can help get you in touch with someone in your air to do the install. But if you want to tackle it yourself, no problem. You're just cutting out the stamp metal in the back door and then you will need a automotive grade urethane such as the one from the screen here. And you're probably going to need primer, caulk gun if you don't have one, and the securing tape. Now I will point out the caulk gun there in the middle, that 26 to one ratio, that's what you need per the manufacturer to put the perfect amount of continuous bead of that black urethane onto where this is going.
So it's not the same kind of caulk gun as your residential style ones for that kind of stuff. So just keep that in mind. Now spinning around to the side so you can see a profile. And then from the inside looking out, looks about the same. But you can see you got that darker border there going on. So again, folks, this is Van Windows Direct, rear cargo door window, again, the driver's side. Again, make sure you're checking the fit guide, your make and model. Be sure you're getting the right one for your specific van. This again is for the Freightliner Sprinters and Mercedes Benz Sprinters. I'm Steve with etrailer. Thanks for watching and have a great day.
