Light changes how your Transit feels inside. Without it, the rear stays dark and harder to use. This fixed rear cargo door window swaps that solid panel for glass, bringing in daylight and rear visibility without creating an open window.
This fixed window replaces the solid panel in the driver-side rear cargo door of your Ford Transit. Rear doors see constant movement every time they swing open and shut, so this glass is made 25% thicker than standard van windows and is tempered to meet DOT and SAE standards. The added thickness gives the rear door panel more rigidity around the cutout as the door operates.
The rear cargo door is one of the largest glass sections on the Transit and sits directly behind the cargo area. The 12% gray tint limits how much someone can see into the van while still allowing visibility out. It also blocks 88% of UV rays, reducing sun exposure through that rear door glass.
Cutting into the rear cargo door is permanent. The glass has to match the factory contour so the urethane seals evenly against the door skin. This window follows the original stamping profile, so when it is set into place, the edge matches the panel you just opened up.
After the opening is cut, a continuous bead of automotive urethane (VW84ZR - sold separately) is applied around the perimeter. When the glass is set into place, that urethane bonds it to the door frame and forms the seal that keeps water from entering the interior cavity. This bond secures the glass and creates the weather barrier so you can bring in light without adding a vented opening.
