The Fulton XLT 2-Speed Trailer Winch makes taking the boat in and out of the water so much easier. The original winch on the trailer was a 1500 lb winch and just did not do the job. The Fulton winch is so much better that my 13 year old grandson can load the boat on the trailer. My neighbor was so impressed with the Fulton winch that he bought one for his boat trailer and is extremely happy with it. If you need a winch, go with the Fulton, you won't regret it.

The Fulton XLT 2-Speed Trailer Winch is still doing its job after 1 year of use. Highly recommend it.

The only place I order trailer, boat and RV parts is from etrailer great service

by:

Nice winch, but you’ll need to get your own mounting hardware. 3 - 3/8” grade 5 or 8 bolts, nuts and washers.

by:

I ordered a lot of parts from you at etrailer, and am very pleased with everything that I ordered. I sent you some before and after pictures of the boat trailer I have been working on. Thanks for the FAST service and excellent parts.

by:

Installed quickly and looks like it work very well.

by:

Biggest pain in the ass to operate and killed my shoulder every time I cranked the boat up. Already replaced it!!

by:

A larger unit than I have had in the past....EXCELLENT.... but some heavier. Nice finish !

by:

This was the best winch choice for the buck to be sure. My trailers bolt pattern didn't line up. No prob with drilling a new hole. So far it's working as designed and looks great to!

by:

Received the Winch in a box with just some clear wrap to protect it.
cover was damaged and box was destroyed.
No packing in box to protect the winch.
Very poor shipping on your part.

by:

No hardware included
An adjustable handle
would be nice
Otherwise good solid winch

by:

Pretty straightforward. It’s a winch. It works very well, and pulls my rather heavy boat onto the trailer without too much huffing and puffing on my part. The gear release ( freespool) is simple and actually works.

by:

Thanks for fast response

by:

Prompt shipping and delivery. Excellent quality boat winch... should last a lot of years! Instructions for installation from Fulton the the XLT 2 speed winch could be better...need to address removal (which is not difficult once you study it a minute or two) of plastic "cover" to allow access of racket/wrench. Very pleased

by:

Would have given it a 5 but no 1/2 inch 13 thread nut to attach the handle was provided. I get that no mounting hardware was provided since that can vary by trailer size, but to ship the unit with a loose handle and no nut is stupid. I was able to reuse my mounting hardware from my old winch, but had to make a special trip to the hardware store to buy a 65 cents nut.

Excellent winch. I am almost seventy years old and often fish alone. Launching boat was no big deal. Loading it back on the trailer , especially in mid summer when in the south the lakes get a little low on water, winching it back on the trailer was a chore.I put this winch on to see if it made it easier to winch boat onto trailer. I did have to make an adapter plate from steel to mount it, but no big deal. Works great. I can actually winch it up with one hand. Would highly recommend this. Should have done this when I was sixty.

by:

This product is outstanding and easy to use. It cranks beautifully and looks amazing!

by:

would have been 5 stars but due to lack of filler in the box the winch rolled around and broke off a piece of the removable cover. great upgrade for my 24 foot tritoon

by:

Just received it. I was told is came with all mounting hardware when I first called trying to find a 3200 lb that uses a strap. Received it and no hardware and no instructions with regard to trying to work around the outside case. Very difficult to get large fingers in to get bolts in and or hold on to start the nuts. Did however get it installed. Have not had a chance to use it at the water but appears it will work out.

by:

Very good replacement for the OEM unit that was on our trailer when we bought it. The two-speed option allows our Tri-toon to be moved easily after the boat is out of the water.
I would recommend this winch for anyone who has difficulty winching a boat with any single speed unit.

by:

Easy to use and install. E-trailer support was fantastic. Needed to check bolt pattern before ordering. Product has protective plastic case on it. Makes is more cosmetically appealing.

by:

The winch fit perfectly on my boat trailer and it easily pull my 4500lb boat onto the trailer. After one year of use it is still performing flawlessly.

Fulton winches are good looking and should do the job right. I will be mounting them soon for our boat and raft. Can't wait!

by:

Arrived in perfect condition, had to remove the
The strap reel to insert mounting bolts, easy to do!

by:

works excellent and the plastic cover helps keep the salt air off of much of the metal body. I recommend this winch.

by:

Winch is heavy duty, the ten inch handle, makes loading my boat very easy. Very easy to move from one gear to the next.

  • Does the Fulton XLT Winch # F142425 have the Same Bolt Pattern as a 2000 Four Winds Winch
Although we don't have the specs for your 2000 Four Winds trailer winch, I can assure you that the Fulton XLT Trailer Winch # F142425 that you referenced features multiple elongated holes so that they can be bolted to multiple setups. This is shown in the attached review video.

  • Would Fulton XLT Winch F142425 Work as Boat Trailer Winch for 4,000 lb Boat
The Fulton XLT winch part # F142425 that you referenced would handle pulling a 4,000 lb boat coming out of the water with ease. This is a 3,200 lb rate winch and generally speaking the ratio for boat applications is 2 to 1. So, the winch would be rated for up to 6,400 lb boat.

I had our warehouse measure the Fulton XLT 2-Speed Trailer Winch # F142425 you were looking at and the widest part of the plastic body measures 7" as shown in the included diagram. Now this is not the widest part of the winch, as from the handle nut to the other side of the jack measures 10" wide. I included a video of the # F142425 for you to take a look at.

  • Recommended Winch for Loading a 2,300-lb Boat
The weight capacity of your winch really varies depending on what your boat trailer setup is like. If you have rollers then you can use a hand winch that is actually designed to pull less weight because the rollers provide no resistance. For a boat trailer that has long wooden bunks you would need a winch rated for at least the weight or your boat because of the extra resistance. With that being said, one of our most popular winches, which has also received great reviews, is the Fulton...

  • Can Fulton XLT 2-Speed Trailer Winch # F142425 Install to Threaded Winch Mount Plate
If you took the cover off of the Fulton XLT 2-Speed Trailer Winch # F142425 you'd be able to get wrenches into the area needed for the mounting brackets. Worse case scenario you might have to drill out the threads of the winch plate but since you'd have to get a wrench into the same area to install the winch either way I don't think you'll have an issue.

  • Heavy Duty Winch for Heavy Boat Loading on to Wood Bunk Trailer
Generally when picking out a winch for a boat trailer the ratio is 2 to 1 meaning you would need a winch with roughly half the capacity as the weight of the boat. With good rollers and a short winching distance the ratio increases to 3 to 1, but with long winching distances and wooden bunks like what you currently have the ratio is 1 to 1. So you need a much bigger winch basically. But are you sure your 29 foot boat weighs 12-13k? That seems much higher than what we are used to. For a...

For a winch that is to be used on a boat trailer I recommend a winch that uses either a poly rope or a strap so you don't need to worry about corrosion. The two-speed winch I recommend is the Fulton, part # F142425. This winch has a 3,200-lb capacity and comes with a 20-foot heavy duty strap included. • Mounting Hole Dimensions for Fulton XLT Winches
The Fulton winches like the part # F142425 that you referenced use an industry standard type bolt pattern that allows the winch to be basically installed on any trailer. This Fulton XLT winches goes even farther with extra, elongated, holes to ensure a fit to even more patterns. The industry standard mounting pattern is basically a triangle-shaped bolt pattern. The two bolts at the bottom are 2-1/4 inches apart on center. The top bolt is 4-1/2 inches from either bottom bolt on center.
