Light Kit and Other Ways to Add Visibility to Hitch-Mounted Cargo Carrier C18153

Question:

I have a CURT 18153 Basket-Style Cargo Carrier and was looking to add a trailer light kit. Is there a specific kit that works better for cargo carriers? I was also thinking that I might not need a light kit all the time either so is there a removable option?

For the Curt hitch-mount cargo carrier # C18153 there is no specific light kit offered but we can help you with the individual parts you'd need to install one.

What you will need to do is use a light kit like # 98174LED, and then add 2 brackets # BK70BB. You will also need some self-tapping screws # FA1131822, or drill and use the hardware of your choice to mount the brackets.

I noted in your purchase history that you have a 2011 Chevrolet Traverse, which will need to have a 4-pole wiring harness in place to power the carrier lights. If you do not have one already you can use part # 118384 if you have the factory tow package, or if not then use part # 118450.

Another way to add visibility to your carrier, and something you can do along with the light kit for extra safety, is to add conspicuity tape like # RE18T.
